I have a L2800 F manual transmission with right cracked axle case, just inside the ROP bolt on point, and need to remove it to replace or weld but can not get the rear axle to come out. I have removed all fluid and the bolts and it will separate about 1/4 inch but no more. I have not taken the inner brake case loose. Does everything have to come off up to the transmission case? Is there a snap ring or something inside holding the axle in place? Its a 2004 tractor.

If your just pulling the outer case, it should just pull apart.

Yeah that is what I am told, it will wiggle around but not come apart. I even used a block of wood and hit against the axle flange but it will only separate about 1/4 inch. There appears to be a snap ring inside on the axle shaft in the illustration but even if I take the inner case loose I can't see how I would get that far into the case to remove it

You can look at illustrated parts list here and see if you can find the magic to get it apart.

I have no experience with your problem

Yeap but when I put the model and serial number in it comes up no results even though it is a true Kubota. But the L2800DT-F Manual Transmission model seems to have been manufactured for only a couple years before they went to the L3200 and the hydrostatic.

L2800 DT is 4x4 Dual traction. Can be HST or Manual.

L2800 F is manual 2x4 - basically, 2 wheel drive. (HST doesn't come in this config.)

So, do you have 4x4 or 2 wheel drive?
I have a 2004 ,4x4 wheel drive , manual ,with the data plate on the tractor listing it as a L2800 F and my Bill of Sale when I bought it new listing it as a L2800 DT-F, ser # 50395 I just ordered a front hub seal for it and used the diagram of the L2800 DT and it is a bit to big.

You have a L2800DT
Leave the F out of it.

The new front hub seals are one piece, old was 2 piece, you must remove the race to make it fit.

This whole assembly will come off as one piece.
No snap ring holding it in place, just bolts.

I have removed all the bolts from Part # 160, the outer case, and it will separate from Fig # E160XX only about 1/4 inch. It wiggles a bit. I have tried wooden wedges in the split trying to get it to separate and have placed a wooden block against the inside of the wheel flange and struck it with a 3 pound hammer and it still won't come out. I didn't want to beat on it to much and break something. I had a backhoe ,3 point hitch set up, on it for years and the transmission case cracked at the top about 3 years ago and I had a machine shop take apart the other side of the axle and brake assembly and weld the case. I got rid of the 3 point hitch set up and put a subframe on it to attach the backhoe. It started leaking a month ago or so on the other outer case that wasn't taken apart ( part # 160 ) near where the ROP and the subframe bolts on and it has a vertical crack about 1 1/2 inch. Probably from a stress facture from the old set up. Anyway , I could the splines have twisted some? Axle bent? Maybe a block of wood and a 8 pound sledge hammer and just beat it until something gives? I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks.

It’s probably stuck on the dowel pin which is number 270 in the diagram. Not sure if there is more than 1 used, but they tend to stick with rust after a long time of being in place. Find it and spray it down with a penetrating oil and pry next to it and see if that works.

I can see the dowel pins .They are shiny. The gap between the two parts of the case is 1/4 to 3/8 all the way around. Does that snap ring, part # 110 , #220 , have anything to do with holding the axle in or does it just keep it in place in the casing?

The only thing holding it is the bearing in the inner case, no snap rings or any of the such.
