I recently bought a used L45 (2010 model with 2018 hours on it at purchase) and it only came with a 24" bucket on the BT1000A backhoe. Looking online, I found someone local with a BT1951A 12" bucket for a BH77, along with a document on the L3560 that shows the BT1951A bucket and the BT3001 bucket both being compatible with the BH77. My question is: would the BT1951A fit a BT1000A backhoe?

https://www.kubotausa.com/docs/defa...detailed-specifications.pdf?sfvrsn=dd73494b_2 on the bottom of the second page in the attachments section.

If it won't fit, where should I be looking for a used BT3001A? Or should I spend the way more money on converting to the quick connect backhoe hookup and buy the compatible ears to weld onto a cheap 12" bucket?

If you have 1.5” and 1.25” pins, it is going to be bh92 buckets. Bt3xxx numbers sound right. They have newer designs now so some will have an A at the end of the part number. Should still fit.
Careful, with comparing a l3560. It is an odd ball that can be fit to both the bh77, and bh92.

Pin-on buckets for the commercial TLB are rare. If just for one 12” bucket, ears and an old bucket might be best.

if you have a thumb or want a hydraulic thumb or plan on getting a ripper or other bucket sizes converting to Kubota mini excavator quick attach in a good option. Kubota does make that an option with the bigger TLBs.

Converted my M59 pin-on bucket to miniX.
Kubota OEM parts >$5,000 because have to change thumb.
USA Attachments Kubota QA $1,000 but had to do welding and grinding. Happy with the results.

More details in an earlier write up. Sold my rare Kubota used pin- on bucket for about as much as a new excavator bucket.

Liked it so much even made an adapter so the B26 could use the miniX attachments.

Many options to consider.

How much do the excavator buckets go for? I see the conversion kit for like $950 on Messick's and I might be able to do a little better at the local dealership, so I could see going that way. On the other hand, my father got a 12" bucket for cheap at an auction, just not a Kubota one, so I'd need to make up pin on or quick connect ears and weld on new teeth. Neither are impossible, just trying to figure out if I need to do the work or if I should spend a bit more to just have the right thing.

If you go for the Kubota mini-ex quick connect system (highly recommended), here are some numbers for you.

Coleman Equipment (Kubota dealer) seems to have better mini-ex bucket pricing than Messick's.

K7770 quick coupler ( must have this for your BH to use Kubota branded mini-ex Q/C BH buckets) -$993

12" Q/C bucket K7872 - $1040

16" Q/C bucket K7873 - $1040

18" Q/C bucket K7874 - $1094

24" Q/C bucket K7875 - $1917

Kubota branded mini-ex buckets are usually manufactured for Kubota by Land Pride.
Land Pride will not sell direct.
These buckets are not cheap, and they are nearly impossible to find used.

ABSOLUTELY DO - "spend a bit more to just have the right thing"
I have Kubota 16" Q/C and a 24" Q/C buckets, plus a 28" Q/C frost/root ripper (Ox Thumbs).

The Kubota Q/C system is absolutely the cats AXX!

Thanks guys, looks like I know what I need to save up for. Probably not worth trying to modify not-the-right bucket to fit the pin on style when the quick connect has easy to weld on ears available for purchase.

BTW, I used the term "quick attach", and you used "quick connect".
You are correct!
Kubota describes the BH buckets as "quick connect".

Bought 2 - 24" and 1 - 16" cheap aftermarket BH buckets for $200 and 3 sets of ears to weld on for $120, happy with all, definitely not the quality of Kubota. MY BAD, these were used buckets, Sorry for the confusion.

Wow !
I paid $1,100 for a 16" Kubota bucket a year ago.
Same bucket is $1040 today, plus $150+ shipping.

USA attachments makes good buckets, rippers and attachments for miniX and up. Incudes pins. Had a free upgrade to ESCO teeth which works better in my tough clay, shale and roots. Better for our smaller machines. Two buckets 12&24” and the M59 to Kubota miniX quick attach package deal $2,750 including shipping. Not worth the trouble of welding new ears to an old bucket. Bought their ripper too. A root snapping beast.

I bought a 28" frost/root ripper from Ox Thumbs, in Carrollton, GA., for my L48 TLB with Kubota "quick connect" bucket system.
AR 400 steel, with replaceable tooth,.....weighs 112lb.
Not cheap though,......$1,000 incl. shipping (UPS).
A well designed/mfg. product, and at 28" depth, a deeper rip compared to others made for the mini-ex machines.
Available for both JD and Kubota.
