Had to stop and get some bolts and nuts at the local machine shop(Amish own and ran)((No electricity or phone.)Have talked to the owner in the past about his V2305 engine and he plans to replace it as it has a few years/hours on it, something like 20 years 50 hours a week running at a constant 1700 RPM's. Thought I would post a few pictures for others to enjoy.

I see these things all the time up my way, Sawmills, Maple tree vacuum pump systems, barn builders. It just goes on and on.
I stopped an Amish Lady one day pumping gas into 5Gal cans and loading them into her Buggy, Who changed the rules for you all? I didn't get an answer, go figure.

The Amish here are allowed to use an engine as a stationary power output. They also have a community phone box(on the township property area)((they stop in monthly to pay the bill and notebook in the booth as to who used the phone)). Wisconsin has the fourth largest Amish population in the US and I am right by the largest in Wisconsin(My township has laws on the books since the 1940's that the Amish will not follow therefore are not in my township). They sell bolts, nuts and washers by the pound($2.49 per pound) just wish they had metric.

Awesome. I like the fan/rad set up. Why is there a pully mounted to the end of the starter ?

The pulley on the thing that looks like a starter is for the pony engine to start the Kubota engine. I did not ask about the 12 volt battery as that is new also(well the battery is old). He has a 3 HP engine with a pulley to start it that sits in the corner. The fan radiator is temporary as in the winter time it gets directed into the shop. Here is a picture of the heat exchanger for the exhaust into the shop for the winter. It is not complete yet.

The local Amish fab shop has a large diesel generator to run all their equipment and welders.
They even recently built a large building with an oven for baking powder coatings. The can do large items up to 40' long in it.
Over the years they have gradually transitioned from gas lights and manual adding machines in the office to led lights, electric calculators and even an old early word processor/ printer. They used to have a phone, fax and answering machine in the neighbors garage across the street, but now a few of the employees have cell phones. Wireless internet access can't be far office, I imagine.

We've had armish locally here about four yrs or so.
They have huge gardens and built a farm store. They also sell steel roofing and install steel roofing.
They have lots of solar and propane and every house has a generator outside.
I don't actually understand them.
I've read the Bible. And being saved by the grace of God and using electricity is two different things.

We have a lot of Amish here in central Pa. They are not against electric but rather being connected to the grid which applies to phone and electric. They feel being connected to grid is at the expense of Gods world.

But their roads are tied to the 'world's' roads. At some level we're all hypocrites.

I respect them deeply, for practical and personal reasons.
