Not sure if this is the right forum but, I really need to upgrade my spring suspension seat to an air ride. I've got a bad back so I need all the help I can stay in the seat as long as possible before having to give up my keys permanently. I've got an MX5400 and wanted to see if there's an OEM or aftermarket or.... where I can get an upgrade that's pretty much as straight forward as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Excellent. Thanks. Did you have any issues with the installation.... wish you would have done differently or known about beforehand? Or just any advice in general before I pull the trigger on this? Again, thanks.

Here's what I did

these seats are rougher than my factory L6060 suspension seat ! I purchased one even after reading that on this site, installed it and it wasn’t good to say the least
, I removed it after a half days use and went back to the factory suspension seat! These “air ride” seats will bottom out even if you only weigh 150 pounds . The best bet is to go directly to grammar and they will build you a seat . They will ask for all of your seat mounting dimentions but tell them that you do not want the seat that they used to build for the l 60 series.

Interesting but, sounds expensive. I haven't seen any posts about how the seat is other than the ones here that say it was worth the money so, can you point me to some of the problem posts? I sure don't want to spend the money just to find out its crap. I'm not a small guy (250 lbs) so I want to make sure it will work for me. Thanks.

Edit...oh, can you fill me in on what you did as far as contacting Grammer and working with them to build a seat for you? Thanks again..

I’m 225 myself - this seat is definitely going to bottom out and if you have back problems it isn’t going to be good! As far as grammar just go to their site, contact them and they will ask every question you need for fitment! Like I said, I purchased the darned thing, pulled my suspension seat out, put that darned expensive thing in, despised it, took out back out and went back to the OEM suspension seat! As far as cost from grammar it won’t be any more expensive than the Kubota grammar! There isn’t enough travel on the seat you are looking at , it’s probably short by 2”! I’m really surprised that no one has posted this same thing on here yet. If you scratch that bota provided grammar seat during installation or removal they won’t take it back either ! I put a scuff on the underside where metal meets metal and it was not a good situation ! It all depends on the parts manager.

Installation went much better than expected for my machine as I have a swivel BH seat base that I mounted to. In my machine the air seat raised my seating position about 2 inches. The extra height was a welcomed bonus for me but beware if you have low headroom in a cab.

With respect to OldSchool59's comment - the OEM K/Grammar seat is a low profile suspension seat with only 2 inches of stroke. My OEM mechanical suspension seat had 0.75inches of stroke. Is it as good as a truck seat with 4+ inches of travel? No. Is it better than 3/4 inches of travel? In my case a million times yes. Is it expensive to install? Yes and No.

In my case the K Grammar seat from the K dealer was cheaper than buying the same grammar part number from a grammar dealer. No shipping costs and next day pick up at the K dealership.

My only regret is not installing the air seat when I bought the tractor. It would have saved me a lot of back and neck pain on the POS OEM mechanical seat.

I'm 6'1" and 210lbs. If you are 250+ lbs then you are probably at the seat limits.

Sore back is no fun. Using a tractor shouldn’t be crippling.
Sitting position with the OEM spring seat was never right on my M59 particularly for big guys. Two modifications helped. First seat cover helped over the vinyl especially in the summer. Second rubber blocks under the mount and deck to raise and tilt back the seating position. Immediate relief on knees and back. Wouldn’t think small changes would make such a big difference.

Have orthopedic seat pad and heat grids to try next. Wished for a little heat for decades doing winter chores. Don’t have as many winter chores now but not as tough as I once was either
