Have a used B7001 that simultaneously developed 2 problems that I thought were both related to the hydraulic system. After repairing the hydraulic system problem (poor coupler connection) the engine continues to blow oil from a fitting connected to the valve cover. A clear plastic tube discharges engine oil to the ground for no apparent reason. Does anyone have experience with this issue?

Usually oil being vented from that pipe indicates worn out rings and sleeves. probably time for a rebuild.

Well it would be a DIY job for me, I don't know your mechanical abilities or what tools you have but I'm guessing it will be a shop repair.

I have a thought:rolleyes:
Could the oil drain-back holes in the head be so clogged,
that the oil level rises in the rocker cover, to the point of the vent?

I guess you could check the oil level before starting the engine.
Then when it starts "blowing oil". Kill the engine and immediately re-check the oil level. If the drain passages are blocked, I would expect to see the re-check level substantially lower.

Just my .02

it's possible Milo, but those passages are pretty big. If they are plugged you have other greater problems also. Usually if the ring/cylinder seal is leaking there is vapor coming from the plastic hose that looks a little like steam. There really shouldn't be anything visibly coming from there.

Let me ask this --- does it continuously drain oil or does it just emit a cloud of vapor as it's running and then drip oil when you shut it down?? If it's the latter, it's probably blow by which would lead you to rings.

Run a compression check to see how you're rings seal. Then take it from there.

I have just been through a similar situation with my B7001. Engine oil showed full or overfull every time I checked, yet I was getting oil out of the overflow, not continually but in 'spurts'. well, more like a series of dribbles, then it was fine for a while. On closer inspection, the 'oil' was blue - hydraulic fluid. The reservoir was continually low no matter how often I topped it up.

Problem was a poor seal on the hydraulic pump, allowing fluid to pass into the injector pump and on into the crankcase, then overflowing. Simple enough to repair, but it still cost a bunch because nothing about the old system was correct - pump, fittings, seal, lines from pump to loader controls.
