L4701 vs L4060 Purchase for Hill Country

I was told the L4060 is a new 2023 but was last of those before a price increase. I suppose the L4701 may have had a price increase for the last of those units, before the L4802's arrive.

Well that probably made it a pretty easy choice.

My L3830 is a predecessor to the L4060, in 2007 mine cost me 53% of what the Kubota site says a comparable one goes goes for now. Inflation is real.

IDK about you, but I’m making about 55% more salary today than in 2007.

I sure hope so, inflation has been about 41% to 47% (depending on the reference and market sector) over that timeframe (2007 to 2023). Presuming a persons’ skill and responsibility level is increasing commensurate with their experience duration, there’s a chance some folks might be making double or more what they did 16 years ago.

BTW, 53% of the 2007 cost means it now costs 189% of what it did, which is a bit more than 155% of a 2007 wage. But then inflation isn’t the same in all aspects of the market and better technology also increases the value and therefore the cost.

Thanks for everyone's input and opinions. I went with the L4060HST as it was running about $5K less than the last L4701HST my dealer had, and about $8K less than waiting for a L4802HST to come in... when the first one comes in. It sacrifices about 5 HP, but is still plenty of machine, and comes with many of the bells and whistles you might want to add, or always wish you added later. Also gets a little more FEL capacity with the LA805, and I picked up a 6ft grapple, 6ft grading scraper, and a set of 48" dealer aftermarket forks. I'll add a picture when they deliver it. Thanks again to all!

Congratulations. Are they loading the rear tires for you? That will help with stability on hills. Also, once you get it and if you find it feeling uncomfortable on side hills, consider adding wheel spacers.

Congratulations. Are they loading the rear tires for you? That will help with stability on hills. Also, once you get it and if you find it feeling uncomfortable on side hills, consider adding wheel spacers.

Good advice. Don’t know if the rear wheels are width adjustable in the 4060. They are on the 4701 so I would think they would be on the 4060. Assuming they are, you might consider having the dealer set them at the widest setting while their setting it up.

You will love the L60. Great buy!

I chose the L4760 over the L4060 because of the additional weight, PTO hp, and larger loader capacity of the LA1055. But I'd also have picked the L4060 over the L4701 for the reasons you did. Enjoy!

If you're going to be using that grapple on brush at all, consider some kind of grill guard to protect the front of the tractor (radiator and such)
