A) underfoot, trip hazard or
B) falling off a shelf/counter/whatever onto my foot

Good idea, but why so many hitches? Are you a hitch collector?
I have that many. (maybe more)
Can't speak for the OP, but I have 5 possible tow vehicles, 3 trailers, 1 splitter, & 1 roller, spread across 2 locations.

The 'hitching post' is a good idea, also allows spare safety chains(5 so far...) to be stored...
mine are in a filing cabinet, all 22 of them...and that's after I gave away a Pintle hitch and 3 ball mounts.
Have a tri-ball sleeve in the truck as well as the dump trailer 'hirise' sleeve

That’s impressive. I drove big nails into the front edge of a wooden shelf in the shop and hung them from the hitch pin holes. Yours is much nicer.
