Anyone Every Used one of These for a Tach sender?

I would not trust it, the ad says it works on chainsaws. Just mount on alternator, I have never seen a chainsaw with an alternator. The same goes for motorcycles. My brother installed something on his Pasquali tractor(one cylinder air cooled diesel tractor with no alternator) I will check with him and see what he used.

tiny-tach also make/sell them for $125 but with display.
the epay unit is JUST the 'sensor'
the 'tech' inside the box is 'solid' even if the ad's use of English is poor.

It's probably going to give you a signal, but not all tachs use the same signal. When the electronic advance ignition system on my CH25 in my Simplicity Legacy took a dump I had to change it out to the redesign replacement parts that Kohler switched to. Which of course did not include a tach output. Tried something similar to that, it wouldn't run the tach. (Yes I tested the tach with another output signal system and I knew it worked).

Depending on the electronic tach.... some have a dip switch, others have pins on the back with with a little jumper to connect two of the pins.

On the one with the pins, moving the jumper to a different set of pins changes the number of pulses that the tach is looking for. If you don't know the pulse count, then you move to another set of pins till that tach reads your closest estimate of low and high rpms.

Same with the dip switch settings. Switching the dip switches changes the pulse count.

Well I ordered the laser tach. At least I am part way to my goal of adding a tach. Still unsure if I will get one of these sensors that go on the alternator or one that is magnetic where you have to install a magnet and get the sensor close to the magnet.
I know a TinyTac will do the job. I'm just averse to digital stuff. Just don't like it

from one seller's page...

It senses magnet signal change when vehicle original alternator is running, then then output 9v pulse for all types of Tachometer/RPM Gauge

2. Features & Specifications:

haven't seen the real instruction sheet but the 'specs' are well, weird...
seems it output 4 pulses per rev, though HOW that happens is a mystery.(most alts are 3phase devices...).. some info about 'alternator signal'.

as for 'compatibility', you'ld have to KNOW your tach requires a 4 pulse per rev input signal of only 9 volts.

So does this mean if you buy a tach that uses a magnetic pulse it will not work with these sensors? Not making an argument. Actually a little cornfused on the whole thing
