I have a problem with a L4310 HST PTO. The PTO operates fine until it is put under load (60" flail cutter). Then I get a loud racheting sound. Any ideas?
I know this is an old post, but I'm having the exact same issue that's described here. Your link is no longer working. Any chance you could point me to a new parts diagram with what you're referring to?Here is a link to some pictures one of which is the L4310hst pto clutch.

070 and 060 are the parts that have rounded off to the point where they are not holding anymore.

Tractor is new to me. I’ve always used the clutch when shifting to different speeds or turning on the PTO. This certainly reinforces that decision.Yup! It's very tempting to just engage the PTO without clutching. Especially when you’re off the machine and it's just idling. It's going to be an expensive fix thought if you're not doing the repair work yourself.
