Just a quick hello to everyone.

I just returned from my local Kubota dealership where I traded in my JD1025R for a B2601.

I wasn't holding out much hope that he would have everything, but he did.

Not only did he have two 2601's in stock, but he also had a 54" MMM for it.

The sales manager gave me a very fair offer for my unit and gave me a nice discount on his. I couldn't turn it down.

No photos yet, I will pick it up Thursday.

Looking forward to reading and learning.

When the salesperson gave me the numbers, I was ready to write the check. . .

My wife said," Call your sales manager back and tell hm we will write the check right now if he takes off $600 more." o_Oo_O

The sales lady said ok. . . She called her sales manager back and told him we would buy it right now if he took off and additional $600.

After a short conversation she hung up the phone, looked at us and said the manager agreed to the $600.

My wife looked at me and said, " Write the check."

Oh, and I'm buying dinner tonight too. ;)

John, good to have you here! Question---does your wife work outside the home, and if so what does she do? Is she an agent for pro ball players? ;)

Welcome sir!

Just curious; Why did you decide to come to the Dark Side?
Mainly for additional ground clearance, and the 3 range hydro transmission. But there were also several small things about the JD that added up to being a PIA. . .

1: Having to push the PTO button to back up while mowing is ridiculous.

2: Having to change the inline fuel filter too often that's under the left floorboard. The mower deck has to be removed to get to it. I'm on my third filter in 69 hrs.

3: No draw bar for towing.

4: To replace the battery you have to remove the right headlight to get it out.

5: No fuel gauge on the instrument panel.

There are other things that irritated me but these are the ones that come to mind.

Did you reduce your wife’s charge-card limit by $600 for her selecting that number instead of $1200..?? :ROFLMAO:

(just kidding her…. she sounds like the penny-pincher I’m married to… Love ‘em!)

She's a retired nurse practitioner from a major cancer hospital. She's experienced in dealing with doctors and insurance companies. She's very no nonsense.

As far as the $600 dollar amount she asked for, the difference between our trade in and the new tractor was $7600. She said make it an even 7k and we will take it. . . And they did.

So in tractor math, you got a new tractor for $7k. Nice job!

For the MMM 3 point control lever, set the thumb screw lower limit stopper at about 4.5, the mower only uses the upper half of the 3 point throw to go up and down, and then you won’t be waiting for upward movement of the 3 point that doesn’t move the mower deck up.

Also, check the alignment of the mower deck. My dealer did a terrible job of putting mine on. I actually picked up antiscalp wheels, hardware and the spiral cam deck height adjustment off the grass within the first mount of use. Also make sure the pins that keep the front of the deck in the “carry” position actually can be installed. Mine could not. I dragged it back to the dealer to have them address it. They wollered out the holes on the frame part of the mower mount. If the carry pins won’t go in, you can’t use the 3 point without removing the mower.

You might want to pick up the filters and fluids you’ll need for the 50 hour service. Get a gallon of the UDT2 as well. Just in case you spill a bit changing the hydraulic filter (right side). I got the inner and outer air filters and a couple fuel filters (haven’t had to change/clean the fuel filter yet in 50 hours), plus it’s easy to get to, just like a big tractors.

BTW the mower gets a 50 hours service too. Lubing the 5 deck and 3 driveline zerks (which should be done periodically regardless) and changing the 80W90 gear oil in the gear box, just under a half quart. The manual calls for SAE 90, but doesn’t seem to be commonly available. The “old” gear oil that came out of mine looked just like the new gear oil that went back in.
