I have an LX3310 and had my tractor to the dealer for a repair. When I got the tractor back the bottom on the third function valve was dripping when the tractor was running. I noticed two hex set screws visible on the bottom (6mm hex) and I tried tightening them a little and that stopped the leak. However, what are the set screws used for? If they are for bleeding I think I am fine. If not any idea how they are supposed to be set? Thanks

Well that’s interesting. Those two hex screws appear to hold the valve to the bracket or vice versa. I wouldn’t think they would interact with the hydraulic fluid in the valve body. Also, there’s no need for a bleeder in the 3rd function’s system, leastwise not in my Land Pride system.

Small leak at the lines on the loader for the third function. Nothing related to the third function valve. They also performed the lx3310 campaign.

Probably just some residual surface oil and tightening the mounting screws did nothing. Just watch it foe signs of further leaks.

I agree with Dan, was the campaign for the backhoe line? If so check your HST oil level. My dealership did the campaign and did not refill the HST system all the way.

GeekBoy, are you talking about the 2 bolt heads that appear to be the mounting bolts, or are you referring to the 2 set screws that are in the middle of those mounting bolts in that little oval access hole?

The two set screws is what I adjusted. I didn't touch the mounting bolts.

Thats a D03 subplate and I cant think of any reason for set screws. Are you sure they are not socket head pipe plugs which are commonly used to close off the drilled passages in the subplate.

My best guess is they are pipe plugs and are used to either relieve pressure to bleed air from the system. My real question is other than "tight" is there anything else in the valving or flow control that these might control?

There is no need to bleed air or relieve pressure. The plugs are typically part of the manufacturing process. The subplate is drilled to create the internal oil passages and pipe plugs are installed to seal off the ends. They are meant to be permanent and serve no other function. Here is a Summit third function valve as an example.
