M5950DT issue

I have a beast of an M5950DT. Love it. It has worked hard for me for years. Today I was cutting with my 10 foot pull-type bush hog and after 40 minutes or so it started bogging down as if the brake was on. I shut off the bush hog and no change to the power, it was losing RPMs and not moving very well. I turned it off and of course checked my fluid levels. The hydraulic fluid was full but I pulled the rear hydraulic dipstick, and it was dry. Any ideas??

Was the hydraulic fluid full or not?
Have you checked the engine oil level?

If I'm understanding you right, the one possibility is that it has blow the seal on the hydraulic pump or has dead headed the pump and put the hydraulic fluid into the engine.

I had another local farmer and Kubota owner come over to give me a hand.
It turns out it was a multi-facted issue.
The hydraulic reservior was full but the dipstick was showing dry.
The issue was a clogged hydraulic filter/ magnetic filter that prevented the fluid from reaching the suction tube to process through the system.
I did not know the filter was clogged as the easy-checker light was burnt out.
Changed the filter and the light and all is good now.

Sorry for the delayed reply.
When he pulled the filter off, it looked like a cross between chocolate pudding and some nasty viscous fluid. it was sort of gummy.
We replaced the filter, topped off the fluid and ran it about 20 hours then replaced the filter again.
There was no apparent additional blockage, but for the price of the filter, it was worth the peace of mind.
All seems to be good now.
