Moving rotary cutter around. Dolly?

Has anyone made some type of dolly for moving the rotary cutter around. Thinking of adding some wheels to the front to allow it to move easier when not connected to the tractor.

We made 3 pt implement dollies out of 4x4 lumber with casters for L sized implements. Stored on concrete floor, easy roll up/away, no struggles with on/off the tractor. Used cheap furniture dollies for BX implements, same results. I may have some pics if anyone is interested.

The OP must workout at a gym or have a red 'S' on his chest cause there's no way I could 'move a rotary cutter' with dolly, by hand anyway. two MIA discs and a hernia force me to 'work smarter, not harder' these dayze......
They do sell a trailer, battery operated 'tug' that might work though.....or use the drive from a snowblower ?

For brush hogs, I used to make them a dolly out of wood, this was labor intensive and too bulky. Then discovered a much easier way for smooth floor. Buy a set of snowmobile dollies, they are small and cheap. One goes under each fwd skid, the tail will move on the tail wheel. When the brush hog is in use, there are only two 8"x8" little trays to find a home for, rather than a huge wood frame to deal with.

Here are a couple photos I found. Used large casters with 4 inch wheels. We had dollies for 72" cutter, 72" box blade, 84" scraper blade, 72" tiller, 48" scraper blade, logging winch, 48" box blade, 60" landscape rake.

I found that having one fixed pair and one swivel pair of casters allowed accurate moving of the implement. If all the casters swivel it's hard to guide. Of course it was the big cutter that had the 4 swivels, making it wander all over as you moved it. But they all were easy to move, even for a 72 year old guy with a bad

leg!

I bought 4 of those Harbor Freight dollies, for $14 each. Then I took the wheels off and built dolly's the size I needed for my mid mount mower, and snowblower. Cheapest wheels anywhere, and they work great. I still have left over for whatever.

I've a 2x6 with 3 steel castors mounted underneath each side. Make the 2x6 one to two inches wider than the RC in the front.

If I could make one improvement I'd make them a little lower to the ground. Ended up changing to a little longer toplink to make for easier on and off. Otherwise very easy to move around! Made one bigger that holds both the box blade and the tiller.

Yup...
The HF dollies are cheap and effective.
I keep a few extras of both sizes around.
Put 'em under tongues of indoor stored small boat trailers also.

I did basically the same thing, but used the wood 12x18" dollies from HF. $10 each and easy to store.

Although I have about 10 of those HF dollies, there is no way in hell they can support 1,000 pounds.

I have crushed a number of them with my ballast box. The first pic is the HF "Mac Daddy" dolly after setting my ballast box on 2 dollys.

After building a number of dollies for various things, my main advice would be to use wheels no smaller than 5-6 inch's. Unless your garage floor is as clean as a surgical room. (the wheels in the pic are 6 inch HF wheels)

These homemade dollies handle my Ballast box and Backhoe with no problem, and they rollover small stones with relative ease.

5 year old grandson pushes them around.

I do plan on welding up a dolly to move the RC around, but in the mean time I wanted to get it out of the way so I threw up a 'quickie storage rack'.

Although I over-built it, and it is safe; It is quite difficult to get it up there, so I do not recomend copying my idea.

Since I have only used it once and now it's out of the way, a RC dolly is not high on my priority list of things to do.

Put everything on pallets and use a pallet jack. You can get a decent jack for $275. And it can maneuver very easily.
