While looking around for a D722-E replacement for a 2003 BX1800, I found a D782-E through a friend. Engine HP at rpm are different, along with Max bore speed and displacement (obviously), according to the Kubota engine manual that includes both models. Does anyone know if i can interchange? Intermittent (d722) 18.8@3600 and (d782) 18.1@3200. 16.3hp and 15.7 continuous, respectively. Max bore speed 3800 and 3450. Thinking about trying it out on the BX1800. Anyone try this out yet?

As background, i received the bx1800 for only shipping cost from a family member who moved and didn't want to deal with it. Apparently he got a hole in the oil filter and ran it without oil. Running engine was ticking really bad when I first got it earlier this week. I changed fuel filters, which probably hadn't been done. It definitely had improved power but then she blew. Started smoking, stayed running until i moved it and now won't start, just puffing smoke. Was running at half throttle before.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

The one issue I see is they take different Flywheels, so you would have to make sure it's completer with flywheel and starter.
I can not confirm the rest of the dimensions, so you would need to confirm that.
Depending on it original use it might or might not be an easy swap of all the supporting parts.

Thank you very much. I did not notice the flywheel being different. In the Kubota manual i have, the dimensions are the same.

The crankshaft pully will be your deciding factor, is the replacement engine pully drilled with the 3 holes in the same pattern as the D722, or will the D722 pulley fit the D782?
Keep in mind it you remove the pulley, it has a locating mark when reinstalling it.

Fantastic advice! Still haven't had the opportunity to put eyes on the 782. Appreciate your advice and glad I'll have that to reference when i get to see it.
