How big is the green house going to be?? Are you planing on glass or a pollycarbinate covering??
Before I got the OL's Green houses up I use 20 foot pieces of 1 1/2 PVC plastic conduit bent in a "U" drilled holes in a 2x4 to be used as a ridge pole and put the conduit through then ran long screws throug the ends attatching them to the wood frame, and covered them with a heavy Greenhouse plastic with the UV shield. They worked really good up in the North country. I closed off the ends with a plywood frame, one end with a door the other with a 24x24 hole for a box fan set up on a thermostat... Not pretty but they worked:D
It is going to be 100'X30', so I don't think PVC is going to work. Going to have to use galvanized pipe, and poly covering. At least for the short term. For this winter it is just going to be 20'X30', and as cheap as I can make it.

I was able to use 4x4 on my L245DT for the first time today...
pulling a box blade and needed a little more traction, had the diff lock pedal down and both rear were giving all they had (4th gear/low range, 2wd)....
pushed in the clutch, pulled her into 4wd, let out the clutch...
she rolled up and out of the ruts, with the box blade still fully committed to the task...

I have to admit... I was impressed....

I must admit I pull with my BX in 4wd most of the time, I think its easier on the tractor and more productive. The smaller tractors have a real handicap in lack of weight.

First, I'll admit to going to the last page and not reading any post before that. We bought this land in 1988. My main tractor has been a 2wd Leyland 154D with R-1 tires. I almost got it stuck with those tires. They got cracks with the tubes showing so replaced them with a tread that is about halfway between an R-1 and R-2. With many years of farming with many different kinds of tractors and tires, I know where and when I can go and when I can't. I haven't gotten stuck here yet. Just remember that you can drive through water and not get stuck because the tires stay clean. Sticky dirt will get you every time. If you have a doubt, wait a few days.

I forgot to mention, if you have turf tires don't try to go anywhere with your lawnmower when it is wet. I have an M5400 that I haven't gotten useable yet. It is a 58hp lawnmower because it has turf tires on it.

I hate to tell you the type of tires you have on a machine does not in any way shape or form classify it as a "lawnmower" I can put ag cleat type tires on a Troy Built or a Toro Wheel Horse and it hardly makes that a tractor because it has ag tires on it. If you go to the dealer and ask them for parts for your MX5400 "lawnmower" they are going to look at you real funny!

RDR, I know what you mean. Turf tires just don't belong on a tractor unless it's like you said, a lawn mower. And personally I don't want them on my mower either. :D

Maybe so with a BX, but with both my L tractors it's easier on them to stay in 2wd. I only use 4wd when needed.

I have owned a 2wd tractor for years. As long as I kept my momentum going, i could general not get stuck. Now that I have a 4x4 with ballast in the tires, i go about everywhere in 2x2. I am sold on turf tires. The traction and weight distribution is excellent in about all conditions except deep slop mud. You might as well call turf tires winter treads, its amazing.

You must not have any real hills and must have good ground. 2wd won't even cut grass on my place, let alone do any real loader work. I have Ag tires and I have to use 4wd for almost all jobs or I just spin the tires. If you are cutting a lawn 2wd is fine, but for work 2wd sucks. I had a 2wd 50 hp massey and sold that damn thing because it would not do any work I needed done. Now I have the 50 hp mx 5100 and it does most of what I need. I have got it stuck before though.
