You and many others will find out the hard way some day.
Care to elaborate? What exactly is going to happen to me and many others for using marketplace?

I only have FB for the marketplace. Not all transactions have been good, but most have. There was a recent sale where I got a message from a potential buyer. They wanted to do a "Google chat" so he could see the machine running. Told me that I would get a text with an invite code and to send it to him to confirm. RED FLAG! By doing this, the scammer would have been able to set up a Google voice account with MY number.

One other transaction was easy peasy. Met the guy at the local gas station. Rolled the scooter from my truck bed to his. Talked for a bit and left.

I'll agree that a little profile info would help. I'm immediately suspicious if the persons profile is blank.

What profile info would be appropriate for most people? I've sold MANY items and purchased MANY item on marketplace over the past four or five years as I have it without a problem. Maybe some personalities require more?

I find it interesting this last item, the guy missed a two thousand dollar sale, because he didn't like something he saw (or didn't see). Even after communicating with my nephew and setting up a date and time to meet he wouldn't call me. When he refused to deal with me I canceled his appointment with my nephew and me because I'm the one with the money! I didn't NEED the implement, I only thought it would be something i could use!

I've looked at CL and find fewer and fewer items listed, so I don't go there very often. I do like how CL has a section "Farm and Garden" and FB Marketplace in a multiple guess as to where to list an implement or tractor tire!

Especially if you are the buyer you dont need anything. Its a buyers market on most stuff. Maybe he had a higher offer and thats how he dealt with you for whatever reason.

Im in the market for a 40ft shipping container delivered and there are lots of options on marketplace, however they are all scams except for a local company that ive talked on the phone with. The scammers are all new members with no profile of any sort showing, require payment up front etc. I just flag them.

Well, the last few years, it's the tinfoil crowd who has been proven right, time and time again.
Guess I’m going to have to dig my tin foil hat out if that is the case…or perhaps make one, if aluminum foil qualifies. 😳

I do not have FB on my phone or any other device. I was going to be going in the direction the seller had listed on his account so I wanted to see if I could combine the trip to go see his item.
You dont need the facebook app on your phone to communicate with a marketplace seller. You can download the app called messenger and that will handle coms for marketplace.
