Shop might charge $2,500+ just for labor.looked at my BX23S WSm which I assume is similar.....
'split in half'... and then some... a LOT of 'some' !!!
I looked at the WSM, chapter 4, transaxle 4-56.
ONCE you get the cover off, looks like the mid PTO shaft bearings are easy to get to...
..it's getting there that's the challenge !!! Then there's the 'assembly is the reverse' nightmare.
Curious am I, it's really hard to understand HOW or WHY they'd need replacing on a 6 year old machine, unless it has 3-4000 hrs of MMMowing or snowblowing ??
Wonder what a shop would charge ? 15 hours ?
I have a front mount snow blower and the bearings are good on it, when the pto is engaged there is a growling noise coming out of the rear end of the tractorFirst your going to need the WSM (aka service manual), it will tell you how to split it.
It requires the tractor to be split in half, so not a simple job.
You'll need a good flat space and good jacks and jack stands to safely split it.
It's very rare for the bearings on these to go out, are you sure the bearings are bad?
And how did you figure that?
The mid PTO is run with strait cut gears so some growl is normal.I have a front mount snow blower and the bearings are good on it, when the pto is engaged there is a growling noise coming out of the rear end of the tractor
If the tractor has a cab, then it might cost $2500 just to R&R the cab!Shop might charge $2,500+ just for labor.
chances are, if #70 and #80 bearings are bad ?, then #90 oil seal should also be replaced, but at least it can be replaced from the outside, i had to replace this seal on my mmm output shaft for my b2100.View attachment 98164
wow, sure is a LOT of work to replace #70 and #80 ! Bearings are only $25 CDN. Though 'while you're there', replace the #030 bearings too ??
OUCH !!!!!If the tractor has a cab, then it might cost $2500 just to R&R the cab!
