Hey guys,
New to the forum and tractors but have a question I'm hoping someone can help with. Recently purchased a 2012 L3800D HST with 3rd function, grapple, and loaded rear tires. Tractor has 479hrs and was told it recently had all fluids changed by dealer. Have moved a few logs and firewood with no issues (except needing a ballast weight LOL!). I have purchased all new filters and fluids so I can change everything just for my own piece of mind and will put hrs and dates on filters. There is a noise (that was present when I purchased) coming from the transmission when I take my foot off the clutch (Video in link below). Noise is still there when PTO is engaged. I want to make sure there are no major issues before I replace all fluids. Any ideas? I decided to post in this thread since it sounded like a similar issue. If I need to repost in a new thread please let me know.

Thanks,
I would say you have a throw out bearing that about to blow!

That's sounds like a bad thing 😬. I just bought this February 1st. Decided to take a chance even with the noise. Let me guess they have to dismantle the tractor and it's going to cost thousands to fix?
Can you turn wrenches? If you can it will cost you peanuts to fix it.
Have a flat place to work on it.
It's a fairly easy task to split it and replace the bearing.

Moved it to it's own thread. ;)

How many hours does the manual call for to split a tractor and replace the clutch, PP, and bearings?

Yeah I've got access to a shop and tools. Just download the 300+ page service manual so I can start digging through that. Is there a way to tell for sure that's the issue before I tear into it, or are you pretty confident that's what's wrong? Should I consider replacing anything else while I have it tore down?

Clutch disk, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, Pilot bushing / Bearing.
All are on the hit list.

While I'm pretty confident that your noise is your throw-out bearing, it's possible it could be an issue further into it.
Meet that bridge when you fall off of it! 🤪
