It would be interesting to take a factory shear bolt, and several cheap bolts from the local hardware store. Test the shear breaking point.
I'm guessing a grade 3 bolt at 10 cents apiece is about the same as a factory shear bolt at 4 dollars.
The problem is whether they're reliably the same. A 10 cent bolt might one day be stronger than you expect, and that will cost you a lot more than the $4 extra for the proper designed one.

Glad you finally got your blower back.
Me too, we have had 3 decent snowfalls this year. I did not have my blower for the first 2. I had 0 issues blowing snow the first 36 years I lived where I currently live. Kubota better figure it out or their snow removal sales will be hurt significantly.

Well, they got another sale yesterday. I've been using a Kubota three point K64-24-7 for three winters and it's been great mechanically but I'm tired of looking over my shoulder so I went to the dealer and ordered a K-connect and K64-22-7CF (Canadian version of the LX2080).

S-G-R, did you happen to talk to dealer about our issues? I would take your impeller shear bolt out and make sure that baby spins. Way too many failures. Good luck!

They haven't seen any issues like that but they also don't sell many front blowers. Nothing in stock now so it will probably be fall before it arrives and I'll give it a good lookover.
