It certainly is a concern. But considering the surface area of a sphere at that diameter, I think we should be more concerned with trash in our oceans and on land here on the planet’s surface.

I get your point though.

PS…I replied before looking at the link. The link did not work for me, but I think I got the message anyway…maybe…

Well, really we should be concerned about the trash in our minds (or the lack of desire to learn useful things). :)

Nothing us 'general public' can do about it. At least 99.44% of it will burn up and not cause any damage.
Perhaps.
The generation or two before me did not think what they put into the ground or water would do any damage. I spent a lot of time in the middle of "cancer cells" that disproved that notion.
After the low orbit fills up the higher orbit becomes fertile for junk. Knock out some GPS or communication satellites and the general public will suddenly become aware.
I will be long dead but human history tends to point that we will screw it up and then leave it to another generation to fix.

Nasa and other gov agencies arent concerned about space trash because they are focused on Uranus and "important" stuff like that

And StarLink wants to put up thousands more.....
Not sure good or bad, but sounds like an option for broadband access in rural places.

A string of Starlink satellites went over our place a couple weeks ago.

Seem to be a lot of folks near me who have it. They say when it's good, it's really good, but it's not as good as it was when it was launched, due to more people using it. They have two big challenges:

  1. Capacity. With one satellite talking to several states, it's available bandwidth is spread pretty thin.
  2. Collisions

There are a lot of people in the space industry who are very concerned about how many satellites they want to put up, which leads to #2. But lots of satellites is the answer to challenge #1.

Time will tell.

I live out yonder. In the sticks more or less. On clear nights I can look up and see the milky way, plain as day. Sorta like if you was in an observatory, or in Peru atop a hill (darker place on earth).

It makes me wonder. How many of those "stars" isn't stars? How many are manmade? Did see starlink a while back and it'll get your attention at night. I see the ISS fairly often. And several others, once saw the ISS being "chased" by another, probably a craft loading it with supplies is my guess.

now when you look up and see so many satellites, it also makes you wonder which ones are friendly and which ones aren't. And those that might not be, which ones are staring at you. Just wave at them I guess?
seriously I could care less. Just putting thoughts out there for those that have tin foil hats. Gotta get them worked up. I might have to try one on some day.
