I’m looking at getting a rotary cutter for my B2650. I’ve looked at Ironcraft and Land Pride. Both are 60” and have shear bolts. Any advice for this newbie. I’m getting ready to retire and want to make some extra money doing odd jobs with my tractor. Thanks in advance

I know nothing about the Ironcraft - the Land Pride is a Kubota product, which may or may not make it bullet proof - but Land Pride does have a good reputation.

Can you share specs and prices?

Ironcraft makes 5 different 3-point rotary cutters…. with different features. You’d have to mention Which particular models you are trying to compare.

But it’s pretty simple, IMO, get the most robust one for the least amount of money possible. There’s not much to go wrong with a rotary cutter other than the gearbox or oil-seal.

Get one with a chain guard, slip clutch, and stump jumper such as the Ironcraft 970 series or something similar.

Chances are that shipping fees might enter the price-structure and your Kubota dealer probably has a Land Pride on the lot ready to go.

Both dealers have them on the lot. My Kubota dealer also sells Woods. But the woods is $2900. And Land Pride is $1900 and is model 1260. The Ironcraft. Not sure what model but that dealer is asking $2000. Both have shear shear bolts. The Ironcraft dealer said he could order me a slip clutch model for $2300

I have an LX 2610 SU; essentially the same as your B2650 in terms of size and power. I have the LP rotary cutter in my signature, and I have been very pleased with it. It is rated for 2 inch material, and occasionally I cut things about that big. I also have the PTO slip clutch; in fact, I did my yearly slipping yesterday on a clear, cool day.

Awesome thanks for the info. I see your rotary cutter is a 1860. The one I’m looking at is a 1260. Do you know what the difference is? I’m assuming the 1260 is a lighter duty unit but not sure

Look at the Land Pride site to be sure, but I believe 1260 is lighter duty ( 1 inch ) and there is no slip clutch option

I would go with a heavier model with slip clutch. It will hold up better, but also consider chains at least on the material exit. It will help layout the material more consistently.

Ok I’ll talk to my dealer tomorrow. I know the Ironcraft had the rubber guards from and back

I'll throw a proverbial wrench in the works.
Have you looked at flail mowers?
They have some advantages over rotary mowers.
And if your thinking about doing contract work, they can be a lot more forgiving on the latent garbage left in a yard or the hidden stump, or rouge engine block that's half sticking out of the ground.
They can also make cuts as fine as a finish mower.

I have looked at them. But they are a lot more expensive than a rotary cutter At least the ones I’ve looked at

Look, you need to do some apples to apples comparisons. A moment ago it was posted the the LP was 12 gauge and the Ironcraft was 11 gauge. Well, it depends on the model; my LP has a 10 gauge deck.

I'm still running Dad's 40 year old Bushhog Squealer. 4 foot model. I will give that brand a look when I upgrade to a machine that will handle 6 foot stuff.

Going to talk to the salesman at the Ironcraft dealer tomorrow about a 950. Someone said in an earlier post and see what he says. Plus I’m calling my Kubota dealer and talk to him about a LP 1860 Thanks for all the help from everyone

Wow I thought flail mowers were more expensive. Is that a good brand? I’m a newbie with all this stuff
