Working on friends BX2200 , wire harness melted , fuel stop solenoid melted ...2 questions 1.] old solenoid Synchro -start pt.# SA-4569T... it has 3 wires R.,B.and white ... now he ordered new Solenoid Kubota part # 16271 -60013... this solenoid only has a Red and Black wire and 2 terminal connector , We are also replacing complete wire harness and the connector for the fuel stop solenoid has 3 terminals, just like original ... WHAT GIVES ?
# 2 ] He ordered new starter , new strter has white jumper wire from one sideof solenoid to the terminal where the black/white wire went ...if that makes any sense ...thanks for your help ,this tractor needs to go as we are getting burried W/ Snow

You probably mean BX2200...:D

I think my BX2200 has a 2 wire fuel cut off solenoid. It could be the extra wire eliminates the need for a ground connection, which in my case is accomplished with the connection between the solenoid and the injector pump.

No idea with respect to the starter itself.

The replacement fuel cut off solenoid I bought off ebay for a quarter of the OEM cost has been working for a couple years now flawlessly. Just a data point of no help since the OEM unit has been purchased.

Edit: NYC buried in snow today? Pittsburgh is not that far away and we are in the 50 degree range and wall to wall sun...

2nd Edit: Was that a cut and past? Looks like NYC is close to 50 degrees today...hope you get some help here regardless...

Thats probably why one has a gasket , one doesn't ?One grounds to the case
I see a bunch of china K.O's , If I can make the 2 wire work I'll use it ,but I don't want to melt a new wire harness
Uhh I'm in Not Your Concern city ..and trust me I have drifts over 6' ,and -1 yesterday where i'm at ...Sunny in the Burgh...hope theres no west wind...
Thanxz for the reply ...

According to Messick's, the BX2200 stop solenoid part number is 16271-60012, which is a 3-wire item. The BX2680 uses the 16271-60013 and a stop timer, so completely different setups.

I agree... as I said It must have had the generic # 60012 AKA the Synchro -Start brand # SA -4569 T which crosses W/ the 60012... but when he ordered the part off the serial #...VOILA ,he got the 2 terminal unit ... and when you google it it often times brings up the 16271-60013 ? ! BTW thanxz for the Replies!

The Bx2200 were made with multiple different wiring and control setups depending on the motor that was used in the particular model.

The white is out to the stop solenoid
The black white is starter solenoid in, it goes to a different terminal on the starter.

You can get the tractor going without the stop solenoid as it will run with it off the engine, just block the hole, if you have the one that's fried, just cut the tip off of it.
Cut the fuel off to stop the engine if there is no emergency stop lever on the side or top of the throttle control.

Here is what you need:

That schematic is confusing. Kubota attempted to show two schemes on one drawing. The BX2200 has the D905 engine, 3-wire solenoid, no timer, and power-to-run. The BX1800 has the D722 engine, 1-wire solenoid, stop timer relay, and power-to-stop.

As you say, there may be other schemes

Thanks for the diagram , I have seen it ,as he has a factory manual ,what is odd he got all these parts thru serial numbered order ,they sent the wrong solenoid , and he got a starter ,this starter looks nearly identical mounts perfectly, it came with a short white Jumper ? wire that is about 5 in. long and was connected to where the white wire is on the block side of Starter solenoid ?and loops to terminal where the black/White wire is supposed to go , It makes me wonder if the starter is different somehow ?, Or maybe that white jumper ties into the white harness connection ...its kind of hard to decipher as the white wire on the old harness had a complete meltdown ,and took out a lot of other wires

Disconnect the white wire from the connection on the starter, and connect the black white to that terminal.
Then connect the white white to the pull in coil on the stop solenoid.
It's just been done like that for shipping.

I was wrong in what I remembered. My fuel cut off solenoid on my bx2200 has three wires. Found a picture I took at the time.

I found a thread from a couple years ago that addresses the fuel cut off solenoid circuit on the BX2200/BX22. I posted the resistance readings of the solenoid coils in that thread: “I measured 21.5 ohms between black and red wires. And 0.48 ohms between white and black wires. I did not deduct the slight amount of resistance in the leads. The VOM was a descent Fluke 8060A.”

I am pretty sure my solenoid would not activate if hanging in the air, and needed the case connected to the engine block, but take that with a grain of salt. I am learning to trust my memory less now than I used to…

If interested, here is a link to that thread:

Idaho Wolfman...That's the direction I'm heading , that and wait on new stop solenoid , thanxz !

Henro ...thanxz for the link ...I'm gonna continue with replacing wiring harness , wer'e sending the solenoid back for correct unit ... ***I'm puzzled as to what caused the meltdown of the original harness ??? SUSPECT list 1.] Ign. switch ? or ? ... who knows ,he ," Overglows " {if thats possible } theHe!! out of it before starting ?
