when operating in a low load situation she stalled when I retried to start when cranking everything sounded as it should but once it started it sound like a piston broke loose and was banging ( this is what is sounded like to me) some one suggested it could just be water in the diesel fuel is there a separator separate from the fuel filter i is this a possibility or just wishful thinking it has 700 hours on it

I don't know what "a piston broke loose" means. If you spin a bearing the piston can slap the head. Obviously that should not happen at 700 hours. Rather than cause further damage it's time for a visit to the shop if it's not just water in the fuel.

Yea no way water in fuel will sound like a broken piston.

What kind of low load situation?
PTO use or moving or ????

If it were my tractor I might be inclined to remove the valve cover to see if an adjuster has come loose.
It seems like the least involved next step.

to be honest I dont know what a broken piston sounds like - when I turn it over she sounds just normal but when it fires up you would hear the noise so my friend who was trained n diesel in the marines that was his thought

Make a video of it cranking starting with the noise, post it on YouTube and give us a link to see, hear it.
Could be as simple as a failed injector.
Any exhaust smoke now?
Did it get hot?
