I bought a case of lucas x-tra heavy duty grease for my B2650 after getting a few tubes to try it out after I bought the tractor new. Found the best price online shipped through Amazon..ca a 10 pack is $93 shipped plus taxes.
Regularly greasing with it and after 550 hours and 3 1/2 years of often heavy work everything feels like new still. Any bearings like on the front mount blower subframe or pto shafts and mounted implements, loader and backhoe pins, still quiet and smooth. I managed to squeeze a loader greasing in when it was -25C for the daytime high, actually not too bad to push into those pivot pin zerks at that temperature. And I've yet to see it drop or drip in high heat conditions. It really sticks around! And just try to wash it off. It laughs at soapy water jets.
I think The Lucas X-Tra Heavy Duty is the best generally available. Costs quite a bit more than others that "meet the spec" but it really does seem to go a long way and perform very well.
I agree but try to find it. I wrote lucas and here is the response. I am buying shell gadus s3 v220 c as a stand in as it is available everywhere. red and green greases should be compatible may switch off as each has some superior qualities,

Good and thanks for the question. Be assured Lucas Oil product has not discontinued this item we are still making it but just not as much as we once were able to. We have experienced a massive raw material shortage that is causing our inability to keep this product on the shelf. We are working daily to correct this issue and be assured in the near future we will have this corrected. Thanks for understanding this situation and keep your eyes out for this product to come back in full force soon.

Is the grease brand phobia arising again at OTT? :giggle:

Lucas Red N Tacky
+1
Not sure if there is a "best" grease, but I've had good luck with Lucas Red and Tacky.

I have been using it for years on auto's, trailers, and the like, and I'm pretty confident that it does 'pretty good' on loader and BH pins as well. I suppose in about 3850 hours I'll be able to give you a more definitive answer on the BH pins.

I think the biggest key is too keep up with the actual act of constantly greasing, rather than the brand.

I know for sure there are some exceptions to the "pretty good" theory, but I sleep well using the Lucas stuff.

Ok, i'm sure happy about buying that 10-pack of Lucas X-tra HD grease a few years ago, for about $110, and still sporting 2 full tubes in the box. Keeping an eye out now for when Lucas gets their X-Tra HD gease back on the shelves.
The X-tra HD grease has been doing a greart job with all the greasing needs. Hope I can keep using it after my box runs out.

Not saying its the "best" ...but 2 years ago i bought a case of Mystic High Temp red grease to use on our l3130. So far it seems good. I use Green Marine Grease for my boat and utility trailers.. But have used Lucas Marine Grease on boat axle bearings in the past with no problems

+1 for this. I have way too many inherited grease guns (5) all with partially full tubes. One has the Kubota green grease that I use on the mmm and the other grey grease goes in to all other fittings on all equipment from my quad to the FEL on the B3200. In reserve I have a case of red n tacky that will become the primary lube going forward. But yeah, lube it more than recommended and don’t worry about it

My logic. High speed grease is for bearings and things that spin (like my chipper and my mower). If you don't use high speed grease I think things will go wrong - it could bind and fail.

On the loader and other parts, they don't move that fast or far. I also don't use my loader that much. Sure, I could get general purpose or high load grease for those, but I don't. I put high speed grease in, and I figure that high speed grease will work just fine at low speed.

In other words, I think high speed things need high speed grease. Low speed things, probably OK with high speed grease. And, as others have noted, actually doing the greasing is probably more important than what your'e greasing with.

Thanks for posting this. I’m running low on my Lucas green and was wondering why I wasn’t seeing it on shelves in stores.

Just like the diesel additive question, alot of different answers to what everybody prefers or has access to. I suggest it more important that the proper lubrication is being done as opposed to what specific brand of grease is used. I believe any name brand is best. To each his own.
