Hoses are easy - just need to know what type ends are on it.

Is it leaking from a hole in the hose or is it leaking at one of the fittings? I had a leak on my backhoe that was just an O-ring... easy fix and it only cost $0.25.

If you get a replacement hose, it will have the fitting on the end of the hose. If you're referring to the fitting on the cylinder, you probably don't need to change it.

I can't tell. I'm guessing the fitting itself. I wrapped it in a light colored towel to see if I found that it might be coming from the hose but it was clean. That's why I think it's the fitting.

I was hoping that would be the case. Now to figure out which one is doing it. I think there's two right next to each other.

The other side is perfectly clean. I first noticed discoloration on the bucket but it's only become more apparent something is not quite right.

I don't see any problemwith tht hose but you can try tightening the swivel and jam nuts. They can work loose and start to leak.

It is. It would explain why I saw it on the bucket first. But as suggested by @TheOldHokie, Dan, I'll also check to make sure they're secure.

Oil doesn't normally flow uphill... the fact that the cylinder is dirtier above the fitting than it is below suggest to me that it is not a leak. Wipe it down with a shop rag and carry on.

Do you have oil dripping onto the floor? If not its not leaking.

If you're seeing fluid shooting out, then yes, you have a problem. If you're just seeing the dirty soot from the exhaust, don't worry about it. Completely normal for these machines. No need to try to fix something that isn't broke and end up causing a bigger issue.

I'm sure if you look on YouTube, you can find a few videos showing the exhaust issue.

Some other stuff has interfered with me going out and satisfying my curiosity about what's going on. Weather being the biggest part. Got some stuff rolling in now.

As soon as I can get out there and fiddle with it, I'll let you know.

OK, a mini update. I wiped the area down and then wrapped a light blue shop towel around the fitting and hose. I'll use the tractor for a bit then check to see if the towel is clean on the inside.
