I have a B2400 4wd that when I turn the front wheels (steering) the 4wd stops working or feels like it slips out. It then goes back into 4wd when the wheels are straightened. It does make a clunk or grinding noise when it goes back in.

Hello Wisco608,

I can't give you a probable cause, but I do have a suggestion. Stay out of 4WD until you know what is going on. I would not want to be hearing a "Clunk or grinding noise".

Good luck with finding a solution. Please let us know what the cause was.

Where is the noise coming from? Front end or under the tractor closer to the back of the engine?

Next week I’ll pull it into the shop. Plan on dropping and straining the axle oil. I’m thinking that should get me in a direction if it’s at the hubs or in the differential. I will post up what I find or perhaps be still lost.

The reason you were asked if it was Bi speed was that system controls the 4WD.
You need to get the WSM for it and read how the BI Speed works and what can cause it to stop working.
