Congratulations.

Good, this is not a Christian nation and I'm glad different religious views are being shared. Religion has no place in government or higher education.

Re: sex and sex education, my experience was that parents had the option to opt out of such courses. Maybe you can verify that.

Triggered? 😂 Are you done complaining about Ford not letting you remove safety equipment?
So you are glad the professor brought Jesus up just to trash talk the man and the religion he represents in one breath and then say that religion has no place in higher education? I agree that such a religious discussion should not have occurred in that class but has its place in classes which have that written into its syllabus.
No parents do not have a chance to opt out of everything. They do have chances during certain subjects but not when teachers take it upon themselves to bring such topics into classes where they do not have a place...math for example.

Just a bit too confusing for me to follow!

I graduated 10 years ago, I was never taught any critical race theory nor was I taught to be offended by everything. What is this drivel? Fox News?

Search engines are wonderful things.

From the internet:

"Critical race theory is an academic concept that is more than 40 years old. The core idea is that race is a social construct, and that racism is not merely the product of individual bias or prejudice, but also something embedded in legal systems and policies."

^^^ you're telling me you disagree with this? This is 100% factual.
Well, no, it's not and it's also not at all an honest definition of critical race theory. It's the cover story.

And again, search engines are wonderful things. (As long as you don't pre-select who you won't listen to.)

Do I get an award for triggering the most dislikes in one thread? 😂
Do you really want that dubious honor? ;)

It did get a lot of reaction.

But I've no problem with folks stating a position and providing their reasons/beliefs for it.

You've nearly always done that...and I respect that (even if disagreeing on some points). (y)

Depends on the context. He's a history professor, so if there was a question of non-biblical series of events vs. biblical series of events, I can see where the professors statement was warranted - he isn't a theology professor after all. Now if it came out of left field, then maybe inappropriate. Hard to say without being there personally. I'm leaning towards out of line but I still stand by religion not belonging in politics or education unless all of the major religions are taught and held with the same regard (including atheism).

Mark's embedded quote
I agree, I posted one hit, but most of what I've read is hard to disagree with.

The disproportional funding for schools, the lack of resources for more diverse locations, the endless cycle of petty crime and "rehabilitation" which eliminates all decent job prospects no resulting in more crime (our "legal system"). Legal/financial bias towards race, location, income, etc... Home appraisals in certain areas or for minority owners being devalued purposely (experienced this firsthand on multiple occasions). It's hard to argue that our system is not designed to oppress one race to benefit the other.

If you can share a decent counterargument to it, I'd be more than willing to acknowledge your point, but I am not convinced CRT is a hoax or a bad thing.

Hahaha, if it comes with a monetary prize, I'll take it 😉

I appreciate that, you always bring a solid argument and I appreciate that as well. Fun to debate things with most people here 🙂

On a serious note, I wouldn't mind a bumper sticker denouncing common core math... And I think it would offend no one.

Now that is just bull ! I did not like doing common core homework with the kids as it was different from the way I was taught to do math. But math is math and the correct answer does NOT change.

Whatever is easiest that comes up with the correct answer...is alright with me.

Its a well known fact that 4 out of 3 people struggle with math anyway.

How about the time it takes to get to the answer, that sure changed!

Regular math took us to space and brought on so many other technological marvels for centuries. Why change it now??
