Hi all,

Oil pressure gauge installed ( after lots of hassle to match NPT and BSPT threads! and clearing engine bits)

at start up/idle it is reading 40psi. (engine warm to touch)
after a few minutes of idle i ran it to full rpm and the needle kept crawling up to 60psi. (WSM that I have says pressure relief valve opens at 50psi. Still needs to be field tested though.

I also added a small water/oil separator in the breather pipe. I think it may be small and causing a restriction. I blew through it before installation a couple of times and did not feel like it is restricting blowby.

I am going to order a full engine gasket kit/liners/pistons/rings/extra head gaskets/bearing shells. I am very obsessed with having parts at hand before i strip things up. Not that many will take over after me once i am forced to pass it on! :D

What brand and weight motor oil are you running? Diesel rated? Excessively old motor oil not recommended to run. I think they say more than 3 years old. Calls for 10w-30 I believe. I have run 15-40 probably not recommended. To many small passages for it to work thru in the cold.
I was using oil from a 20 litre can, Repsol 15w40 oil for diesel engines. Malta is a relatively warm place and temps never drop below 14'C during the day and as said it works hard.

Gave it a little work out, coolant was about 80'C (measured at the auto coolant pump) and oil pressure at full RPM was 40 to 50PSI. at idle the engine runs at a very very slow tickover but not erratic and presssure drops to about 20 psi.

I will check Valve adjustment and wait for headgasket kit to arrive. That is the next thing on the list.

So what is the oil pressure light doing now with a new sensor?

Hello. I.m quite reassured oil pressure is kind of ok. 15w40 may be thick but in hot weather it thins out. Compression test coming up soon. I may borrow a guage next week. The mechanic on e again said rings... But i dont know, It still runs clean (exhaust)

I.m just overwhelmed with things to do. I feel tired. Engine rebuilds are cool ... But a good used unit? The hassle to fit a d950!?!? :'(

No hassle at all putting a D950 in it, I have several, everything is a direct swap or bolt on.
