Another trick that sometimes helps is to start the tractor, move the 3point hitch control and loader control a few times, then shut it off a for around a minute, then restart and do the same. Sometimes starting and restarting allows the pump to pick up it’s prime when running it for a long time won’t.

How do we explain the problem with the HST?

Never mind - I figured that relationship out after a visit to the WSM.

Not sure if would make any difference, but if the filters were reversed would it make any difference?

Could the OP have installed a filter without taking off a clear plastic covering that was on it to keep dirt out?

Logic seems to point at the filters…at least in my mind.

That thought did cross my mind o_O

Something seems to be obstructing the suction side supply. A vacuum leak at the filter would do it but I would expect an oil leak as well.

He can easily verify the presence or absence of flow at the loader valve. If there is no suction side oil supply getting to those pumps running them is not doing them any good.

Guys (and gals) as I read the thread title I was asking myself, "If you empty a bucket of hyd. oil into a tractor why would the bucket not work? Did it get a hole in it? Did the spout break off? Handle pop off?"

Just the way I think, I guess! :)

I just put 3 buckets of hyd oil in my Case, and that's what popped in my mind.

It's twice as big as it needs to be.

That is the perfect answer! I'm thinking this guy has got to be an engineer of some kind......

Of course, an electrical engineer probably would have asked if the bucket is a conductor or an insulator.

A process engineer would say it depends on whether the bucket is being filled or emptied.

A computer engineer would have said it needs to be rebooted.

A civil engineer would have said it's half the size it needs to be, and needs a secondary bucket on the outside in case it leaks.

An automotive engineer would have designed it so the bucket has to be running before you can determine the fluid level.

So, must be a mechanical engineer.

My HST tractor's manual says to rotate the (power) steering all the way left then right to purge any air in the system.

It's an overdone joke, I guess, but hey... Go with what you know, right?

Now let's see what other unnecessary features we can add to this bucket...
