I have a 2020 BX 1880 with loader, mower, blower and soft cab.

My question is this. When using anything requiring lifting either the front loader of snowblower the control is very herky jerky, nearly impossible to smoothly lift or lower without jerking, is there a way to smooth that out some?

Thanks.

Also is anyone aware of a decent heater for this model the one I have is useless. No power, got it from the dealer.

while I don't have your tractor......

re: the herky-jerkies...
1) possibly reduce engine speed. slower should reduce the effect but it'll take longer to raise/lower..

2) use two hands. brace right hand with left to hand more control over the lever action

3) practice ! LOTS of practice !! 'loader-tractors' are NOT forklifts, don't have the same hydraulics or mechanics. After 2-3000 hrs ,you'll get the hang of it

4) replace the loader valving. expensive(new valves, computer, etc.) but you'll get silky smooth performance.

re: heater

What cab and heater(BTUs) do you have ? What temperature is the rad/gauge say ? Diesels run best 'hot' (well at THEIR temperature ) so when you suck heat away for YOU, they get cold...kinda bad. Is the cab well sealed ? Does the heater ONLY heat 'cabin air' and NOT draw cold air in ? Have you covered engine to keep it warmer? What temperature are the in and out hoses of the heater ?

You may need to use painter's tape to mask off part of the radiator screen

Thanks for your response, its just a minor irritation with the hydraulics, only thought someone would know a simple trick. Wish there was a way to have the snow blower float over the surface ups and downs though and prevent scraping the ground.

The heater I have is the very simple and small, cab ceiling mount, very low power, couldn't blow out a match, its electric, no water circulation or anything.

If the BX1880 is like the BX2380 then most certainly the snowblower can be put into float.

That's the way your run it 99% of the time ! (except you lift it slightly when you back up, normally)

there are a number of heaters that are available for your tractor, but they all require that you connect to the cooling system of the engine. Do a search for truck heaters on eBay and you will find quite a few that should fit your tractor. I had a 10" square box heater that came with my Curtis soft cab back in the early 2000s, and it put out more heat than the heater that they presently install in the BX23S. It will also help if you get some rubber roofing material and cut it to fit under the seat and to cover any other opening in the cab to retain the heat that the heater supplies. Proper sealing of the cab is as important as getting the correct heater.

Unless your electric heater is 1.5kw fed with massive conductors the size of a carrot, you can expect it to be quite lethargic. The BX's battery and charging system couldn't keep up with 125A of draw even if you COULD install an electric heater like this.

Much better to use a coolant heater and follow Dusty's recommendations about sealing up the cab.

I have a BX1880 also and have the same issue with the bucket control. Decreasing RPM does help but is impractical if you have to do it over and over. I find using my fingertips instead of a full-fisted grip helps. I need to slow down - mentally and physically - and focus to gently lift or lower. Just barely edging the stick forward or back seems to work. The more hours I get in the seat the better I'm getting - in all aspects of operating.

I don't have a blower but while floating my bucket (with grass tamers) it will follow the ground but I lose steering (without chains). I usually keep it an inch or so raised on the first pass and float for a cleanup pass. There's a couple of good You Tube videos explaining float and steering.

BX1880 here, I have both loader and front snow blower. Definitely has float. Push loader control stick all the way forward until it "clicks". This is the way the blower was meant to be used. It should ride on the skids. I typically pick it up a little when backing up any significant distance or making tight turns. Adjust gap between cutting edge and road surface using the height of the skids.

Feeling was a bit jerky at first but you get used to it. The loader control stick works by opening valves. The further from center you move the stick, the more fluid is allowed to flow. The faster the flow the faster the implement moves. So as said in earlier post, move the stick gently, in small controlled movements, not full throws in each direction

His engine produces plenty of waste heat and is quite capable of keeping his cab warm AND keeping the engine happy. There are many tens of millions of diesel engines around the world in cold climates doing exactly that.
