No 4WD light on MX tractors .... kind of annoying.

I don't think I've ever owned a vehicle that had 4WD that didn't have a 4WD indicator of some sort on the dash.

Current vehicles.

'98 Jeep TJ 4.0L ... check
'98 M1078 LMTV ... check
'02 F250 7.3L ... check
'22 M6060 ... check

but a '21 MX6000 .... nope!

Not a deal breaker but mildly annoying. :whistle:

No indicator….other than putting the manual lever(s) in 4WD: Willys Jeep. 1971 LandCruiser, M4700DT

I consider the manual lever the indicator…same as the transmission shift lever on an MT. There are other indicators beyond the lever for that matter, just not lights.

If you don’t remember the 80s this is from Stripes…

I agree, I’ve got way too much other stuff tucked away in my brain to try and remember which way the lever goes for 4wd. Granted, mine rarely comes out of 4wd, but still.

I have a light to tell me when the parking brake is on. I do like the 4WD indicator in the M6060 even though it's much easier to see that 4WD is engaged on that tractor. I have to remember that lever up is 4WD on the MX but the lever isn't in the most convenient spot to grab or see. A dash light would have been nice to have. That's all I'm saying. :)

Agreed. I’d love a parking brake light on my B. For that matter I’d like to see the actual headlights mounted in a more useful way (I assume more than just myself have a loader on their tractor when headlights are needed…bucket is just in the way ).

My '57 Willys 4WD pickup didn't have a 4WD idiot light though it did have 7 sticks on the tunnel.
Made for some 'interesting' shift patterns....

No 4x4 dash light on the grand L either, rather cheap of kubota if you ask me. There is also a recess in the knob of the lever for a emblem that they could of used, instead of a cheap little sticker stuck to the body of the cab.

Not one of my Chevy pickup trucks have had a 4WD dash light… simply where the knob is pointing.

Now, if you turn off the nuisance Traction Control thing, there’s all sorts of lights and stuff…

After about 350 hours I can now look at the shift lever on mine and tell if it’s in 2WD or 4WD. It isn’t at the bottom of the slot in 2WD and isn’t at the top of the slot in 4WD. There’s maybe 1” of movement from one position to the other. I’ve never measured but it ain’t much when you’re looking straight down on it to determine position. Works well, position just isn’t particularly clearly indicated.

For quite a while if I didn’t remember what position it was in from last time I’d used it, I’d raise the front wheels with the loader and see which way the shifter was willing to move. I can now just look at it, but no one else that uses it can.

It isn’t so much a problem, it’s just kind of surprising to the point of being a bit silly on a machine that otherwise seems to be so well thought out. If it was on something like my old MTD Yardman riding mower, I wouldn’t think it odd at all.

That's really surprising for the Grand L series which is packed full of high-end features.

I had an MX6000 open station for a year and around 110 hours of use, and now have 100 hours on the MX6000 with cab, but it's only after buying and using the M6060 that the glaring omission of a 4WD light on the dash bothered me enough to mention it. Every time I get in the M6060 and see the 4WD light and then get in the MX and don't see it I'm reminded about it. As I said, not a deal breaker by any stretch because the MX is such a good tractor, but if there's any kind of electrical circuit for the 4WD in the MX I'd consider adding an LED to the dash via a relay that would illuminate when 4WD is engaged and the ignition on. I have this set up for the radiator fan in my F250. I replaced the viscous clutch on the fan with an electric clutch tied into a coolant temperature sensor and a manual switch. The point is to reduce drag when the fan isn't needed.

Just another light to burn out. I prefer just checking the lever. My Jeep indicator light for 4wd quit working.

People have gotten so soft that they expect Idiot Lights to tell them everything. Every little electronic gadget is one more thing to break and one more thing to add to the expense of the tractor.

I've never had a 4WD light burn out. I drive a '98 Jeep TJ (had for 22 years) and an'02 F250 and haven't lost any lights in the dash display. Even the '98 LMTV stuff still works. The argument that an indicator tight is a bad thing because it can fail at some point can be applied to anything in life.

Yeah, an engine warning light is for softies, along with seat belts, shift on the fly, airbags, tachometers, pryometers and on an on. Heck, maybe I shouldn't wear shoes today as I head down to Missoula for lunch. I'll walk around main street in my bare feet and snarl at anyone who is wearing a hat, coat and shoes. Pussies!! :rolleyes:

Maybe so. It is something I don’t need because I can just check the lever.

If you're into Amazon, you can search FILN for LED indicators in various sizes and colors with over 100 symbols you can choose. I bought 1/2" red, but I haven't installed it yet. Might look at m6060 parts at the switch arrangement.

Some of us still use analogue clocks and don't have a problem reading dial gauges. LEVER OUT = FWD ON works for me

I am more upset that K puts cheap back breaker seats with no suspension designed for users 5 feet tall weighing 90 lbs
