Hi there Just registered. Has anyone removed a block heater from a bx2380 Its,apparently, a press fit with some loctite on it. Kubota is giving me one so I got the tractor in garage to remove old one. Its in tight and dont want to damage the hole. Thought I would see if anyone has done this before.

Drill a 1/8” hole in the collar. Install a sheet metal or self tapping screw in a slide hammer puller should do it.

You may be able to grab the outer collar with a hook adapter from a puller also.

From the Messicks parts site…..

All you need to do is unscrew the heater from the press-in sleeve on your engine now and reinstall the new heating element. There would be no reason to remove and replace the sleeve unless it is leaking.

When I installed mine, I didn't use anything to seal it except for a very light coating of plumber blue sealant, which would only stop any leak, but not retain the block heater into the block. I would ask the dealer service department how to remove it. I wouldn't drill any hole until I learned the correct procedure. You don't want to disable your tractor until you can get it out safely. If it were the dealer who installed and replaced it under the warranty, I would let the dealer mess with it. An engine block is too expensive to gamble with.

Got the old one out. Is one unit and only have to break it free then comes out easy. Moved hood lift cylinder out of way and put a pair of vice grips on main unit. Then used a small bar wedged in recessed parts of block to pry vice grips back and forth. Block heater slowly came loose then rest was easy. Only took 15 minutes. Thanks for the info from a couple of members. Good info.

Glad that it worked out for you. On a forum, you never know what level of mechanical ability someone has, so I am hesitant to ever suggest brute force or any other method that I might use myself to resolve a problem. I take responsibility for my own mistakes, but I don't want to be responsible for causing someone else to make a mistake.

You must have the new style heater if yours was one piece. Part number 70000-00776.
