Made a bit of progress today.
To answer Marks question about lift capacity, according to tractordata it's 1900# , I'll be about 3.5 ' out so less than that.
Today's pics:
Cool project. Looks to be well designed and built. Looking forward to seeing it in action.

Today's update:
It lives!
It works as intended although the two arms don't move together, I had to put a stop on the right side so it would stop opening and force the left one to move open the remainder of the way. I understand now why they have the solid bar between them, I may have to do that but for now it will work good enough for it's intended purpose. My first thought was I should have made the boom longer but thinking about it I think it will be fine as is. The nice thing about metal is you can cut it, grind it apart then just glue it back together again :)
I just unhooked the mount for my front 3rd function and swung it around to the rear just to try it.

Update! I installed an arm between the two sides so now they move together.
Interesting linkage, It took me a minute of studying it to get it but then it made good sense.

I like the way you think!

You aced that design. Always good to see what talent is still around today. Will the next video be of dragging some giant tree out of the woods? 👍

Are we going to get to see it lift a log of some decent length?

What's the thickness of those jaws?

I was hoping to get it out to my buddy's place over the weekend but the wife had RSV last week and I came down with it on Saturday. I'm not sure if I will get back up there this year or not, depends on snow conditions or lack of I should say.
Jaws are only 1/4" x 3.5" It's not a full fledged skidder ...lol
Plus it's pretty much a prototype.

That should be able to skid out some pretty large logs. Hope your have a good saw mill for lumber, or a way to process lots of firewood for home heating.
