Who has removed the idiot bars from their Kubota snowblower chute? Mine got so severely clogged this morning I swear I’m going to yank that thing…

I don't have a snowblower, but if I did, I would remove them. If you need a physical barrier to keep you from sticking your hand down the chute then you truly are a special kind of stupid.

I removed the grill/guard last winter from the SB1574 that I have. Pain in the butt for sure, particularly for wet, heavy snow. Last year the chute plugged up a few times and I'd had enough so out it came!

I never installed it when I assembled my b2782b snowblower. The one on my walk behind is still there, but gets little use since I got my tractor.

I've been through 9 or 10 seasons with them in. Has never plugged.

Honestly, I always have intended to take them out, and forget. Bet they're gone first time it plugs....

I think many folks do pull them out.

gone, all the other blowers I had did not have any and most would run with out an operator present as they had few safety switches. Learned long ago to keep my fingers out. The rule is if you would not put your manhood in the hole do not put you finger in either. I keep a wooden cane in the cab to poke out any clogging.

Before attempting any work on the snowblower, make sure that the PTO is disengaged first. If there is a clog, just keep in mind that you never put your hands into the augers even if the machine is off and the PTO has been disengaged. There could be some stored-up energy on the augers that will cause them to move once you clear the clog with a broomstick or wherever your chosen tool will be. If you are changing a broken shear pin, also make sure that there is no snow build-up in the augers. Always clear the augers with a small plastic shovel first. As a retired EMT, I have seen way too many snowblower incidents from people slipping in front of a parked but running snowblower.

Well, my idiot bars are history…hanging on the garage wall. Anxious to see how it throws snow without them! Gonna get some PAM too!😂

I didn't notice any significant change after removing the grill, other than a reduction in clogging.

Thanks.

Here's mine, and for your viewing pleasure packed full of snow last year. That's one jammed up poop shoot! :ROFLMAO:

That is jammed full!
I have never seen those on a snowblower before.
Of course, not a huge amount of snowblowers around here.

Here are the ones from my original post.there are 4 bars bolted to the chute and they have a bend inward at the top which made it hard to get any clearing tool or hand down the chute.

We need to sign a petition to get manufacturers to remove augers and PTO shafts to improve product safety. Should probably remove the reverse gear as well. And steering controls.

Hey we need self driving tractors!
