Heard on the news that the "invader" was charged by a federal grand jury. Have to wonder how many times an average citizen would be able to get the United States Attorney General's staff involved in a crime that was local? similarly another stupid thing happened this last week. For years I've known of 71 acres that came available, but the seller was not quite ready to sell-it was in a trust and all of the trustees had to agree on the terms of sale. I found out last week that the trustees have agreed to GIVE it to the dang football players. Why? It makes absolutely no sense to me to give them a half million dollars worth of land that they will never (EVER!) use, or have a use for, the same "players" who are continually in cahoots with the law because they keep breaking them, the same "players" who give the entire state a black eye. This has happened before with some land along the buffalo national river, and the 'foundation' (players) SOLD that "free" property and divided up the money they got out of it-which was a substantial amount. But the worst part? Who bought it? Chinese company. The company is based in China but has a presence here in the usa; and apparently owns/buys a LOT of property. The question is, what are they doing it for?

Two main reasons- intelligence and control.
A number of these ChiCom purchases are strategically near our military interests.
If they truly do farm the land as well as Intel gathering, they now have control over us. Just like all the Chinese Chinesium crap that Americans buy, food will be one also. One more dependence.
You could say "well, it's only like 0.03% of the farm land". Thing is, the Chinese think in 100 year terms. Maybe longer. This is a chess game to them. While the west is playing connect 4.

Some foreign (and native) companies/investors will buy U.S. land that is undeveloped as “offset” land…. Property used to offset carbon-dioxide activities. If the land is forested, grassland, or largely undeveloped…then the plant-life there, if allowed to contiune…is used to remove CO2 from the environment…and they can continue to do harmful activities because of that offset.
We (the U.S.) are whores. We should pass a law such as Mexico and many others that only U.S. Citizens can own land here. You’d be amazed to learn how much of U.S. land is owned by the British Royal Family, the murderous Saudis, etc etc etc.

When I was in college back in the very early 1960s I learned from an economics professor that the US was the only nation that would allow foreign investment in farmland. I also learned that the largest "farm owner" in the US was Prudential Insurance Company since they had foreclosed on farmland during the dust bowl era. At that time they were getting government subsidies not to produce certain crops on the land. The interesting thing was that most of that farmland would have taken a lot of work to get it back into production since it was mostly overgrown with trees. I do know that you have to be a Canadian citizen to purchase land in Canada. A friend moved to Canada with his wife, and when they bought a home with the money that he brought into Canada, only her name could be on the deed. Then she divorced him and he lost everything and came back to the US to live.
