Well, the binding can only be caused by the 'rod bore' of the cap, i.e. the skinny hole that the rod slides through. If your detent ball disintegrated the most likely thing is you have some junk at the bottom of the hole, and if it's powdered metal that you rammed home repeatedly with all the leverage of your loader stick, it might be so nicely smooth and compacted that it LOOKS like the actual bottom of the hole, and not an 1/8" thick layer of compacted metal powder that it actually is.

What i would do is either scrape in there real hard with a small pick or small flathead and see if you don't dig up some stuff from the end of that hole, or get a drill bit about the size of the hole, and just by hand twist it against the bottom of that hole. I bet you bring up some metal junk and once you truly clear the bottom of that hole, the valve will have full travel. Then you can decide how much you really care about finding a new ball and spring.

What is regen function?
Regen is fast dump on the bucket. Your bucket spool would have a fourth detented position in dump just like float on the boom. Does your valve have that fourth position?

Never mind - looking at the picture you posted I can see the dump spool is 3 positions. Here is an inexpensive replacement valve - you would need to do a little minor metalworking to get it bolted on where teh current valve is located. You would also need the power beyond conversion sleeve which is sold separately.

I will run a drill bit through the lower section of the cap. Thank you.

Whoops, also forgot to mention, if you have never removed the small hex cap on that cover thing, the detent spring itself may still be in there and it may simply be falling into the bore and keeping the rod from moving past it. I never saw a pic of the spring sitting loose so i just realized it might still be in there and be the thing that is blocking your valve rod from reaching the end.

Guys,

I removed the cap and drilled into the bottom and a tea spoon more of compacted rust came out and a small ball bearing...

The functions have been fully restored except for float of course..

This had been fun, thank you so much.

I barrowed the tractor from my old boss to do a dry well project and right as we finished it broke.

Glad it broke on me and not him after I returned it.

Thanks again.

Absolutely spot on post!
