I have a U shaped driveway at the house but is narrow enough they that you have to drive through part of the inside of the U if any other cars are parked. It is also a pain when backing our camper in. We decided it was time to widen/expand it.

Didn't take too long to get the sod off. Made a crisscross pattern with the box blade scariffs to loosen it up and then used the FEL to remove it. 20 tons of gravel being delivered this afternoon to finish it up.

And then, of course, the wife decided the pile of dirt made for Jeep play time….

20 tons of 53s delivered yesterday. Started spreading it. Hope to get it done while I am off work this week.

Also put gravel in the canvas storage shed I just put up. Going to take some shovel work to get it all leveled out though. Tight quarters to try and do it all with the BX.

The 53s do ok just on top of dirt? I dropped a layer of 1s down for the parking pad (soon to be a loop) for the toy hauler. I was afraid it would all sink in without a good base.

The quarry said they would do well for a residential drive. It is 53s with powder in it. They said the powder should wash down and help create a split base.

Right-o. They would know!
The local stone plant here said we could probably get away with 53 clean and top it with Crusher Run. I just went with the 1s because that's what the main driveway has as a base. And I hate doing things twice. Except opening beer. 😉

Driveway expansion complete. Now everyone can park and pull out without going through the grass. I even had enough gravel to revamp the main drive that was getting pretty thin.

Another positive is that I maybe able to loop around with the camper instead of having to back it in….. but even if I still have to back it in I made the drive about 4ft wider which should help.

Turned out pretty good for the first time I did a drive.
