It's a lot more power in that size frame. I wonder what use people would have for that - the LX3310 is traction limited not power limited. Not sure why the bump to 35HP, nor what extra use you'd get with 40HP. ePTO also an interesting acknowledgement that most implements sized to an LX don't need 40HP.

Extra HP for something like this (11 foot mower):

I could see wanting a finish mower that big for a multi-acre (as in over 4) yard, horse farm/equestrian center and even commercial/government. Of course, you would need it to be relatively flat/slow rolling.

FWIW, Land Pride shows it as matched for the LX.

Based on the model Tractor Time with Tim tried, I don't think it would work for an 11 ft mower. Maybe a lighter model 6-7 ft rotary cutter would work. It might work better for other things like stump grinding or mulching.

In my experience with engines, the extra HP won't hurt anything and probably helps them sell a few more because people will upgrade.

The best change is the change to the transmission. I watch GP Outdoors and can notice how much HST whine his LX2610 has. According to Neil on Messicks this model will be quieter now.

Well, Land pride shows that that mower as matched to the LX (as noted in my post); my guess is that it works fine. I have never found Tractor Time with Tim a source for useful information.

As to HST whine, maybe it is noticeable in the cabbed and even the DPF models. My LX has neither, and I have not noticed the any extra HST whine over the engine noise. Of course, I am wearing hearing protection for the engine noise - so tough to say.

In the batwing mower case, he pointed out that the distance between the draw bar and PTO shaft made it impossible to hook up the bat wing mower that he wanted to use. Granted, that is an uncommon use for an LX, but since someone mentioned 11 ft mower, I explained why I thought it might not work.

Has anyone seen this information posted anywhere other than Messicks? Neil said that Kubota was keeping the LX2610 but didn't mention if it was going to be getting any of the changes that will be in the new LX3520 and LX4020.

I am mainly interested in finding out if the LX2610 might be getting the new transmission and/or loader (LA545).

It won't be - they'd change the model number if it did. Usual form is that they'll wait till demand on the new models dies down, then upgrade the 26 to LX2620. That's what they did with the L - the L2502 came out this year, the rest of the 02 came out last year.

Probably a new LX 26XX would also come with a new, slightly higher price. I purchased my LX2610 SU about 1.5 years ago, and the current MSRP price is ~$2K higher.

So happy they are offering a 40HP model in this size machine. Especially for us higher altitude folks the extra HP and turbocharged engine are welcome.

I find my 3310 has slightly less hst noise over my 2610 but a quieter transmission would be a pleasant change but I would probably still wear hearing protection. I think I would price a Grand L4060 and see if the increased capabilities would warrant the jump over moving to a LX4020.

It does not get the new HST.

I only watched the vid once but I thought he said that the LX2610 will still be available in the original configuration, but at a 'lower price point'.
