No, any intelligent and well-trained pilot would know the weight of the required fuel to make it to his/her destination safely and compensate for variables such as headwinds causing additional fuel usage.

So since more is being exported, the shortage is being created worst in the US.

At what cost to the American taxpayers? If it were not for Trump filling it, it would be bone dry with the amount that Biden has already removed from the reserve. It isn't the crude oil that we need it is the refined product, and there hasn't been a new refinery built in the last 50 years. Not much you can do with crude oil before it is refined.

It was not filled by trump. It has been filled, periodically used, and refilled for many decades. Oil is a commodity under GSA contract that is bought by the government at very advantageous prices. You are correct that there have been no new refineries built for many decades, but all of the refineries I’m familiar with in my state have been in a constant state of expansion and modernization as a normal routine of doing business. It’s not like the refineries are still running with 50 year old technology or they have the same production capacities.

My calculator gives me an error at the price difference, but I believe that its $17,000,000,000. But your right, whats another wasted 17 trillion.

People need to wake up. This HUGE cost difference just doesn't appear from thin air (well I guess it does they will just print more)--thats why.

Further, what if we need that oil. It is meant for our military purposes not for trying to lower gas by $0.11/gallon for a couple of months to try and win an election

My point was that having more fuel “in storage” than needed in the short term is expensive and wasteful. Having 3 weeks of fuel in storage is pretty typical and NOT “news”.

Some months ago three weeks of toilet paper was not enough.
