I am having an issue with the PTO seal on my M9000. My seal came apart. I have ordered that little $42 seal and should be in today. However, I would like to rule out a worn bearing. Any idea how much play there would be on the PTO shaft without the seal? I am able to move the shaft a little (1/4 inch or less.) I was using the baler when the seal come apart and want to rule out major damage.

I do not know the exact spec but 1/4" sounds like a lot for any shaft/bearing assembly. It the outer bearing pushing against the seal? In other words, did the seal fail from the inside-out

I wasn’t sure how much support the seal held. I will check out the bearing a little closer.

1/4 inch is a lot of play. That will take out a new seal pretty quick.
