Hello, I'm new to the board and I am having a problem with our BX2200. The outer right rear axle seal is leaking and I have ordered the parts to repair it. Does anyone have any tidbits of information on this tractor as far as replacing the axle seal? I will be tackling it this weekend. Any info./advice is appreciated.

Thanks for the parts breakdown. Do you know what I will have to do to get the axle out? I'm thinking I'll have to go through the rear case somehow.

Axle seals are a very big job on BX tractors! You have to remove the whole transaxle from the frame to get the final drive housings out. It will wreck your whole weekend and probably then some and I wouldn't even attempt it without a service manual! Thankfully we hardly ever see them leak!

Well there you go, two service techs have chimed in. I learned something about it, hope you have a swift and easy job of it.

Good Luck!

I am late to post on this issue just wanted to share what I found on my 2003 BX2200 rear axle. 1187 hours on it
I had oil leaking down the inside of the rear tires. I thought great a tear down to replace the axle seals. Closer inspection revealed the seals were fine. The plastic housing to fit the seals into the axle housing was the culprit.

Instead of a tear down I removed the rear tires. Drained the trans. Then pulled the plastic mount loose. Cleaned the mount and axle housing with brake cleaner. Then applied red RTV sealer to the plastic mount and reinstalled. Let it cure for a day then refilled the trans and problem solved.
Two years and 100 hours later still no leaks.

How about using these "stop leak" transmision aditives - would these be of any help?
No, avoid using them period, they just thin the hydraulic fluid (that's what's in there).

They are not " thin hydralic fluids", they are chemicals intended to make rubber seals expand. Problam is , they make all seals expand, causeing other problems.
