They have all been spoken for - thanks for the interest

When I was a kid I had an American Flyer train set given to me by my aunt. I built it into a pretty nice collection then it disappeared when I went to school.
Fast forward and my kids were of an age where a train set made sense. Again I built up a nice collection, they lost interest and now its in boxes.

As we are getting ready to move its time to unload 'stuff'. The trains have become stuff. Anyone interested?

I have a very small collection from my Grandfather. After he passed no one wanted it so I took it. Not much but have them set up in my office.

Yes, all O gauge. . . If I can't find anyone interested in them I'm going to donate them to the local high school. They have an annual train expo / tag sale that is a big fundraiser for their marching band.

Hi - I uncovered an old Lionel set that I am just starting to clean and set up for grand-kids. I just joined this forum, can you provide either a description of your train set or maybe a picture? Also, not sure where you are located, I'm in Texas.
Sorry if you did have an earlier posting that I may have missed.
Thanks.

Hi K-Bob & welcome to the forum.

If you hover over the poster's name you should see where they are (usually). I'm in CT.

As far as pix or a description goes, well that's a tough one. Everything is packed in boxes . . . I can tell you this much though. When I was buying cars n accessories, usually at train shows, I always kept in mind how they were going to be used. If it was a choice between a caboose in pristine collector's shape or one with a broken light on it - I went for the broken light. I knew my kids were going to 'play' with them.

I had made 6 4X8 tables that we had a really extensive layout on. I have 100's of feet of track, loads of switches and many operating accessories. There were a few locomotives and plenty of cars.

Tell me what you are looking for and if I can dig it out I'll send it to you.

I have a friend that set up an O gauge Lionel set last year, and the old track is not a dinosaur item. His new track is 1000% better than anything that we had back in the 1950s. My uncle worked for Lionel, and I had a lot of trains. I gave them to a family with a bunch of kids back in the early 1970s since I was moving and had no desire to take them with me. Now if I want to play with trains, I go to my friend's home and play with is. I know that he is always looking for additional cars and accessories to add to his setup. I am also in Northeast CT, so if there is anything that you want to donate he would love to have it. He is like a big kid with a train setup.

Hi CTJFR,
Thanks for the tip - I had a chance to travel through the state during a fall foliage, pretty countryside. I'm not a collector or anywhere an expert on the line of Lionel trains. Recently retired and looking forward to sharing an activity with a couple of the grand-kids. My tracks are old - original - and some of the cars have been damaged over the years, but enjoy fixing them up. I have very little of the accessories and switches. There may be others that are interested also, but I would like to discuss how I might get some of the items. I'm new to this site - just getting into the use of a tractor whenever they can ship one, so I'm not sure if we can post phone numbers here, or alternate e-mails. I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.
