I am new to the forum and to kubotas.
I have a friend of mine who has , I beleive a B7100, and it ran when it was parked this past fall. It will not start this year. It cranks over good, but will not fire. We bled the injectors , we are getting good fuel there. What is really odd , to me at least, is that it will not even fire with ether. Not even a pop !! Any suggestions out there ?? Any help would be great !!

How fresh is the diesel fuel and how recent has the fuel filter been replaced?
If fuel wasn't stabilized, it's junk setting outside in the elements that long. Just daily normal temp rise and fall can make water from condensation. Change filters and re-bleed too. And as noted, NO ether!!

That should take care of it.

Check that you have power to the glow plugs. You need to check EACH INDIVIDUAL glow plug for 3-7ohms of resistance. They need to be checked separately by disconnecting them from the wire loom and put the ohm meter leads at engine ground and the tip where the wiring screws on to.
Indirect injected diesels like the Kubota needs glowplugs working to start effectively.
Put a 12 volt test light on one of the low plugs and put the switch to the glow position. It should light.

I'd check to make sure the glow plugs were operational as noted. I would also make sure that if there is a compression release it is not stuck in the release position as mentioned in the first reply post, even a little reduction in starting compression can cause a starting problem.
Does it smoke while you're cranking it, even just a little???
I wouldn't worry too much about the fuel if you're sure there isn't water in the bottom of the tank or in the filter. When I bought my M4500 it had set outside for over 5 years without being touched. Put a battery in it and it started after about 4 cranks. Diesel will last a long time as long as the cap is tight and water didn't get in.
I'd really lean toward the compression release being the problem if it has one. On the S2200 and S2600 motors in the old M series the compression release acts on the exhaust valve, so you would not notice anything by holding a hand over the air intake.

Thanks for all the replys. I have been away for a while and just getting back into this project. Here is what I have to date. No compression release that I can see, the fuel and the fuel filter have been changed, the lines have been bled, the battery has been replaced, the air filter has been replaced, engine oil and filter changed, all within the last week. It rolls fine, after about 8 or ten revolutions it will act like it wants to start and puff white smoke ??? Is this any help ? What else should we check ???

You still have made no mention of anything "Glow Plug" related. Are you familiar with "Glow Plugs"?
