I picked up a nice PJ 20' tilt trailer. I will use it to haul cars and for my b2910 occasionally. I have absolutely no idea what hardware, straps, chains and rigging is required for hauling anything. I have 4 ratchet straps that I have used in the past to secure loads in back of truck.

For hauling tractors, what do you use and how do you safely rig/secure them? Do you have to have some aftermarket hooks or rings installed on the tractor?

Same questions apply to cars. Thanks for any input. Pics to follow at some point.

Generally, you will find most using four tie downs hooked to the tractor. Some use straps, some use chains and binders.

I'm no expert on it, so instead I will refer you to the PDF from FMCSA on the requirements and lets others tell you how specifically they tie-down their tractors.

D-Rings on tractor & trailer, 5/16" grade 70 chains (2x 20' packs from HD ~$50ea, cut to length (4x) at home), and Ancera chain binders.

what used to cost just a few bucks, today costs almost $1000 to strap your machine to the trailer  After using the Ancera binders I won't use anything else.

I hope I never get to try those Ancra binders. I have four of the Peerless binders that work fine for me, but no doubt I'd throw them in the trash and be $640 lighter in the wallet if I knew what I was missing. :ROFLMAO: Ignorance is bliss ... sometimes.

looool they are like drugs!! ruined forever :ROFLMAO:
Perhaps you can send me a couple of yours for an independent evaluation. I will send them back ... I promise!

If you overnight them I can test them out on the MX6000HST this Saturday as it makes its way to its final resting place on 50 acres up near Polebridge, MT. A beautiful spot to live out its days.

It'll probably be puttering around Bowman Lake from time to time.

I have both the peerless folding handle binders and the Ancra EZ binders (as well as some old crappy cam binders). In order of ease of use, my preference would be the Ancra EZ binders hands down, then the peerless (they really are nice binders for the $) and all others I've personally used a very distant third.

Not that my opinion matters to anyone but me.

Those Ancra EZ binders do look to be a good design. I might have to upgrade at some point.

Thanks for the advice and link to myteeproducts. I did my studying and have 4 chains and ratchet binders for the tractor and tire lasso/basket strap and ratchet setups for cars heading my way.

What are you guys running for winches if you have them?

I put a 9,500lb. Superwinch on my 14K equipment trailer.
Under $500, and works very well.
I also carry two snatch blocks.

Here's the MX and Del Morino on the 22ft MidSota trailer yesterday near my friend's place along the river. I'm going to move the tractor about 12" towards the rear of the trailer when I take it home on Sunday afternoon/evening.

I hadn't got all the straps wrapped up, but I wrap them up to prevent them from flying around in the wind.

Trailer is 12,000lbs rated trailer. Trailer weighs ~2,700lbs. If I have the bucket and box blade on, tractor weight is ~6,500. SUV is rated for 9,200lbs of towing.

Trailer is 20 feet, split loading ramp, and brakes on both axles.
Loaded to 9,200lb. tow vehicle rated maximum.
That trailer definitely needs an Equa-l-izer hitch for any high speed towing with that particular vehicle!

Nice set up. Long wheelbase of your truck a definite help.

Don't have to worry about it. Trailer was stolen and never recovered.

We have since been shopping and looking for another, but nothing purchased yet due to the high prices. We are starting to see prices come down in our area, so we are trying to be patient. Looking at a GN trailer to replace the one that was stolen.

"Looking at a GN"
Absolutely...YESSSS!
A GN is truly fantastic compared to a bumper pull!
