I’m rebuilding the bucket cylinders on my lb400. there is an extra o ring left in each package. Anybody happen to know why?
thanks for any information

edit: thank you to the people who responded! stopped at the dealership today and they also said some kits are for more than one application. Haven’t reinstalled them yet so hoping there is no leaks. Pretty straight forward of a job but there was one stiff o ring that was a little stubborn. Anybody have any tricks for that?

Often parts kits are made to fit a number of different applications. This may explain a left over part.

I have seen an O-ring that sits on the exterior of the Ram cylinder many times on new Kubotas, I do not see any use for it, just an extra.

That O-ring is installed at the factory to keep paint clear of the end of the cylinder. After painting it has no purpose, except to confound folks. ;)

Is it small, smaller than the rod? There is a small o-ring that goes on the rod before the piston goes on.

I just rebuilt the two bucket cylinders on my b1630 loader using kubota kits and found each cylinder used a different set of seals but the kits had everything i needed. Both kits had seals left over. The instructions did say the seal kits were for various cylinders and seals or orings could be left over.

Would love it if you would document your rebuild. I have a LB400 loader as well and need to go through my cylinders this winter some time.

I didn’t read your reply until I had already put back together. it wasnt to difficult except for one stiff o ring was hard to get on. There are two different versions of seal kit depending on the serial number of your loader. I went to a dealer to have them search it. i Will leave a link to a cheap spanner wrench that will take the cylinder cap off.https://www.amazon.com/Vmotor-Chrome-Vanadium-Adjustable-Spanner/dp/B076PGQVGZ/ref=sr_1_7?crid=1JZNF239D1M2K&keywords=spanner+wrench&qid=1659046263&sprefix=Spann%2Caps%2C173&sr=8-7

also on side note I collect arrowheads also. im guessing you do?

Collect artifacts and make my own (as a hobby) on occasion, yes.

All found in a single day (digging) on private property.
