In the Southern States about 1 in 6 of Armadillos carry the bacteria. BUT....it would be exceedingly rare for it to be transmitted to humans. It is not a very contagious disease to start with and more than 90% of humans are immune to it anyway.

In the South... your real concerns are from Tick and Mosquito borne illnesses.
Yeah, forgot about ticks. I'll take leprosy over that tickborne allergy to red meat or Lyme disease any day!

Here too.
I know of a house that was appraised at $93,000 to $97,500 two years ago.
Sold last month for $360,000 cash, with no inspection, closed in 5 days.

I know of a house that was appraised at $93,000 to $97,500 two years ago.
Sold last month for $360,000 cash, with no inspection, closed in 5 days.
That's exactly what they did around UofM stadium and some of the surrounding middle-class heavy cities years ago. Shithole houses that were max $1-250k were being bought sight unseen for $3-600k cash. Or they'd buy multiple homes cash and tear em down to build new on a larger property. Got to the point where most of the locals were priced out of the area entirely because comps and property taxes got so high. It hasn't gotten any better lol.

I wish there were rules in place to curb this kind of housing market disruption but it ends up benefiting the local government so they let it slide.

Seeming to ignore that advice... Californians are moving here (Texas and Florida) by the droves. To us....THAT is the hazard.
They are like locusts. Unfortunately, they bring their demands for services that drove up the taxes in California. They are also invading Arizona, and many that have lived in Arizona are seeking refuge in other warm climate states like Alabama.

We've got enough rules from folks who don't really care, so the rules become worse than if they didn't exist.
