Summit Tractors were featured on the Good Works Tractor Co. YouTube video channel this past week. It'll be interesting to see how well they do in what is already a crowded marketplace. They appear to offer a lot of features standard but I haven't found anything on pricing yet so I don't know if this a good value or not.

There are definitely some issues to resolve such as product support since these tractors are going to be sold through "box" stores, but maybe they'll do well. They're made by ITL in India using Mitsubishi branded engines with final assembly in the US.

Definitely not a tractor I'd buy, the color alone is enough to put me off, but I'm interested to see the ripple effects from this introduction.

I saw a FB post about them, and did some searching. Horrible turnbuckle stabilizers on them. Saw a lot of similarities to a Yanmar, and it make me think of the Holzfforma chainsaws- cloning the work of other legitimate manufacturers.

When I bought the BX25 six years ago it came with turnbuckle stabilizers, at least that's what the 3-point linkage upgrade kit came with, fairly standard for entry level tractors. As for cloning, who does anything original in the tractor industry? Most are simply a variation on a theme.

What is important to me are things such as quality, reliability and longevity. These are all complete unknowns for this new tractor offering.

Hodge is right, those particular stabilizers are horrible.
Lots of standard features though.
I like the colour for what that's worth, British racing green never gets old.
We will see how it all pans out.

mcmxi, thanks for posting the link. Looks like a couple of guys with some experience developing a tractor that should do what most people want a small tractor to do. Their U.S. citizens using companies in the U.S. to assemble, sell and service their machines. I appreciate their initiative.

I think the challenge for any challenger to the competition is service after sale and parts availability…and to steal market share need to exceed current level from the competitors. I don’t believe most people do their own service / repairs…clearly many on this site do but that’s not most owners. I am not sure without a dealer network they will make much of a dent between the 2 oranges and green…on a product that lasts so long, I would think that is a tough market to break into. I don’t think they can provide better for less money either…if so then why would good techs stay if they would get paid less? Techs are worth their weight in gold, and they need to be accordingly or they can go work someplace else. If they are good quality products and service, it should be good for the completion To keep/improve the current quality and reliability.

I'm with you here. I'm Kubota to the core having owned four tractors (currently have two) and a generator with nothing but a positive experience with the dealers and the equipment, including Land Pride implements.

Competition is good and I want all manufacturers to strive to constantly improve their products because all owners benefit from that.

Not sure that I'd call that British racing green. It looks more like a dark teal to me, at least in the videos on GWT.

Stabilizers are my business (www.stabilworks.rocks), so it's one of the first things that I look at. The design on the Summit/Solis H26 are ultra short (much more leverage imposed on them), and telescoping stabilizers can't be built for it without modification to the lift arm mounting points. In the world of standard, turnbuckle-equipped tractors, they are below par. Being that there are other above-average standard features, I'm surprised that they ignored such a simple improvement.

It is just a rebadged Solis H26.
ITL makes Solis and Yanmar and perhaps other brands, so I'm sure there's lots of cross over between the brands but I don't know if a Summit is simply a "rebadged" Solis.

How long are the Summit stabilizers?

They look to be about 8" or so. For telescoping stabilizers to function satisfactorily- to have enough holes in the tube and rod for fine adjustment- they need to be at least 12".

But you have "infinite" adjustment with a screw thread. Not as convenient for sure, but if taking as much movement out of the 3-point as possible is the objective it can be argued that turn buckle stabilizers are superior. I have no wish to swap out the stabilizers on the MX or M, but turn buckles have their place.

It amazes me how many "tractor resellers" we have in the US. So few actually make their own machines. So many have gone out of business, leaving the customers to scrounge for parts. I just dont understand why someone would spend their money on a machine that should last 50 years but the company will be out of business in 10.

3 year or 2000 hour warranty but how often will the tractor actually be in your possession.😏

Offering rear remotes, 3rd function with a 3 year warranty will catch the eye of many New tractor buyers on a tight budget if the price is 2-3k lower than its competitors. I think that's what it will take to get attention.

Kubota makes it hard to beat their financing though!
