One of the issues of getting old is needing readers. Today has been a challenging day, went off and left them at home. I only have about dozen pairs of them at home and for some stupid reason i brought my pair from my office to home yesterday. At lunch time going to go home and grab a couple to bring back to the office.

I keep having to blow up webpages and email so I can read them. Although if that is the worst issue I have, I should be thankful and a little more careful to make sure I have my readers with me.

Yeah, I have looked into Lasik surgery and the doctor said I would still need cheaters afterwards. My correction prescription hasn't changed much over the last 5 years, only one eye needed a little adjustment. Yet, my need for cheaters have went from 1 to 1.5 to now a 2.

So, either I need to stop wearing my contacts and wear my prescription glasses all the time so I can read. Or I need to invest in more cheaters and place them everywhere so I will always have a pair handy.

No thank you. I don't like things dangling around my neck. Even ear plugs, I don't use the corded ones, just bugs me with it rubbing on my neck.

I did pick up a couple of readers when I ran home for lunch. So now I can see what I'm typing. I don't know that it will improve my typing skills at all or my ability to communicate in written format, but at least I can see now.

The new Vuity drops do work for some folks. It's not perfect but can allow you to get by with using the readers less often. Over the years you end up needing them more often and more power. I used to forget them, now I have so many pairs I always have some. Eventually you get cataracts then you can opt for an expensive multifocal implant and see like you did when you were 20. No one ever said getting older was fun It's called "the golden years" because it gets so expensive !!

Normally I do need them so I buy packs of 6 at Sam’s Club because I know I’ll tear them up and therefore can’t bring myself to buy an expensive pair. Seems like I mess up or lose a pair on average once every other month so the six pack lasts about a year.

yep, 51 years old, 2.0's with contact lenses in. Pairs in every room, pairs at work, pair on the nightstand, and as of recently, a few pairs in the garage! The super cheap Home Depot ones aren't that great, plastic, break easy and out of focus around the edges. The Wal-Mart or local food club ones are a happy medium of cheapness.

Always had jobs that required safety glasses or googles. When I started to need readers I got progressive glasses. The upper glass has as much correction as a kitchen window. Mid frame is for computers at 18 inches and the bottoms are readers.
Never need to look for them as they are always on. Photo-grey so they tint for sun.
Pair at work used to be safety glass with side shields.

Knew a guy who had his progressive made with readers on the top. Flight engineer on a c-130. Lots of switches above his head that he needed to read.

I've seen a couple people use those.
Pretty dorky, but we're old now, who cares.

I use a prescription pair at work, picked a frame specifically that stays well on my head so I can walk around with it on the head, then slip it down on my face when needed. The OTC ones fall off when I bend over, which is why I have several pairs of those lying around everywhere. I keep a pair in the little tool box on the tractor as well just in case. The only problem is when I forget they are on my head when I leave work. The next day at work without them is not pretty. I now keep a cheap spare pair in a drawer at work.

The wife and I both got cataract surgery with top of the line implants. No more glasses.
We do need readers for real fine print but do OK without them reading menus and such.
We do have a pair of readers in about every room (we share) and they stay put, in the room. So either one of us has them on or they are on the table.
