i have a zg327 mower 2009 model with slightly over 100 hours on it and just today it started acting funny, it starts and after warming for a few minutes I try to engage the mower and the engine starts running rough and dies. it also runs rough and dies if you try to let it idle.
the engine sounds like it is running rich or the choke is on but it is not on.

Looking on the internet i see there was a recall on this mower for carburetor leaking, does anyone know if this could be my problem?
does anyone know what the warranty on this mower is, i didn't expect to need it with a kubota, but now i am beginning to wonder as i hear they started making their own engines and they are not as reliable as before.
IS THIS TRUE?

Definitely sounds like a carb problem and with only two seasons on it I'd put good odds on it being the recall problem. Might also be a clogged jet but I'd try getting the recall work done first.

How old is the fuel in it? Could be a thing that the gas has gone bad and could be causing a problem. This ethenol produced today is tearing up alot of power equipment.

That's right. If you can find ethanol-free gas, it's worth it. That's all I run in my stuff. I have no problems, but friends keep bringing their stuff for me to clean the carbs and get them running. Ethanol is the culprit most every time...

Not sure the of the ethanol content up here (no required labeling) but most starting and running issues I've come across are a result of gunk in the carb, other carb issues, or lack of spark. The mower starts hard in the spring after sitting for a 5 months but it's always been a finicky hunk of junk. Pressure washer probably still has some of it's original fuel in it from 5 years ago and starts on the second pull everytime. It doesn't get used much and I probably topped off once every 2 years. All of the other yard tools are similar. Just my experience.

To be perfectly honest with you I am not a big believer in a mechanic in a bottle, but for shits and giggles I bought a bottle of a wonder treatment I kept hearing enough people talk about it. And WOW low and behold it works amazing. I had purchased a bottle of Star Tron Enzyme fuel treatment and was blown away when it fired up a leaf blower I have not had running in about 2 years. That to me was proof in the pudding right there when the stubborn blower fired up and ran like a scalded dog.

The thing with ethenol in power equipment is if it sits for so long unused it turns into water and causes alot of white rust inside carbs. So if you're running gasoline from a can that you've had sitting around the house to mow the lawn with, then yeah your fuel has gone south!

Try some of this fuel treatment for yourself and you'll be amazed.

was running fine ran out of gas added small amount and drove to house after mowing for about 10 minutes.

added fresh gas before starting engine and problem started, engine runs rough sometimes without mower load and i can clear it up by using the choke, but it still stalls after engaging mower.

I can also agree about "StarTron". Amazing product that has done wonders for me dealing especially with Ethanol issues.

Well it sounds like you just identified your problem. It has sucked some trash into the carb, filter, or partly blocked a hose or something similar. It "is" fuel system related. Time to tear into it one part at a time. Clean and R@R from the beginning ( tank) all the way to the carb. Don't do it backwards or you may end up doing it again.
