So I have a g1800 with 737 hours on it and I developed a horrible vibration when the pto is engaged. After taking the driveline off and inspecting the u-joints, I found on the inside of where the quick yoke meets the pto gear appears to be damaged. It looks as if some metal has broken off around the ball bearings and as though there is play when you spin it by hand back and forth. Has anyone had one of these fail on them? Is the play normal? I ask these simple questions because Kubota wants a premium just for the quick yoke.
Has anyone had to replace these?
Thanks for the help!

That does not look good my friend. I think you're due for a new one and I would check the PTO shaft as well.--

Ya I agree, after really looking at those pictures it's pretty easy to tell theres broken spots. :-(

A trip to kubota seems to be in order, better start seeing how much I can get for my car haha.

Your adapter is worn out. See the fretting? I see the fretting. Better check the mid pto for wear as well.

Looks to me like it was run quite a bit not all the way locked on the pto. Lucky it didn't come off.... or maybe not.

I will be checking it out today when I get home from work. I took a peak at it when I found this vibrating and didnt notice anything but I've missed obvious things before!

Whenever I have taken the deck off, i have always double checked to make sure it was latched in place.

yup replaced a few of those. And engine-trans driveshafts and yokes.

You caught it before it came off of the shaft. When it comes off while in use, it normally takes out the oil pan and whatever else it decides to.

Looked at the PTO gear looks like it is in pretty decent shape, no doubt it has some sort of wear going on.
Not looking forward to a trip to kubota..

Or does anyone have a better idea by any chance?

Since you posted those snaps I will be lubing my adaptor with grease featuring the power of bentonite.

Or maybe never-sleeze. I'll have to ponder it. Clearly I will require the most extream of pressures.

Probably not a bad idea at all. I just ordered a new one from my local Kubota dealership, $320 and change 😳. I also got a price on the whole driveline, just incase it wasn’t just a little more expensive. It was like $950 something! So take care of it!

Well on to the next dilemma..

So I got the Quick Yoke yesterday and went to put it back together today. Fits on the pto shaft perfectly, no wobbly movement to speak of. Then the U-joint issue. As you can see in these pictures the U-joint off of the other yoke will not fit. So it almost seems as though I will be forced to buy the rest of the driveline.

Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions to make/adapt these together?
I was thinking about the possibility of having it machined out more but I really think it would fail if I ever hit anything to big. I havent brought it back to kubota and got their thoughts on it yet because, well its Saturday.

Does anyone also know if they make u-joints that would do what I need?
I mean like the 7/8 side and the other 2 would be 3/4.

Thanks for any help guys! Hopefully these pictures help.

I think I would take every thing to the dealer first, and hear what they have to say. There COULD be a serial number break in the shafts, or maybe the wrong part got packaged with the right part #. I don't know the joint sizes, but there MAY, be a aftermarket yoke to fit your u-joint.

Ya thats the plan as of now, i made sure to keep everything just in case something like this happen. I would have suspected it getting packaged in the wrong packing but with it fitting perfectly on the pto shaft it seems unlikely. I was hoping that someone with a ton more knowledge would chime in and tell me that there’s a aftermarket yoke would work.

There’s a driveline shop a ways away from me that i was going to try to see what they could do, but when i found the wear on the gears figured they couldnt do anything about that but now i am starting to think i may pay them a visit soon.

Just got home from the Kubota dealership. Turns out he put in the wrong model of mower deck, he selected the RC-48-G20 and I have the RC-48-G20-S. Completely different quick yokes (different part #’s). So sounds like I may be back on track!
Also it is even cheaper than the one I just returned. I will still give a update after Friday👍 and pictures of the new one. I have appreciated everyone’s help/advice.
